Saqlain got dropped for Kaneria ffs. Definitely not better than Kumble.Kumble wasn't better than Saqlain surely. Just played more
Kumble got to 500 and 600 wickets slightly faster than Shane Warne. Genuinely a great spinner ffs.Kumble wasn't better than Saqlain surely. Just played more
I'm fine thanks @DaemonAre you doing ok L&L, you seem a bit snappy of late
It was a bit of stretch to expect any CW discussion of spinners to be good, wasn't it. Even without Burgey coming into the thread and saying someone in particular's a chucker and some breed of bowlers is inferior, this discussion is still pretty dire.
Would still prefer it doesn't degenerate into ****** vs *****
I tried. It degenerated from the start.
Yeah, hope everything is fine @Line and LengthAre you doing ok L&L, you seem a bit snappy of late
DRS makes a big difference to spinners and both Ashwin and Jadeja have benefited from this whilst Kumble did not. Ashwin and Jadeja also bowl in a much better bowling lineup. Statistical experts like Charles Davis have proved that bowling averages improve when playing in a stronger attack. Despite all this, Kumble's home record holds up relatively well against Ashwin and Jadeja.kumble is by some distance inferior to both jadeja and ashwin.
absolute myth IMO. DRS would change just as many against them as it would for themDRS makes a big difference to spinners and both Ashwin and Jadeja have benefited from this whilst Kumble did not.
Not necessarily. lot of front foot LBWs are given now. However would not mattered with Kumble, because he was a "pitch middle, hit middle" type of bowler.absolute myth IMO. DRS would change just as many against them as it would for them
None of them hold true against Kumble. You rarely can leve him because everything is pitching on stumps, and cannot leave, because majority is hitting the stumps. LBWs would have been very straightforward with him. Batspads could go either way.The change caused by DRS isn't so much about changing decisions as changing the batsman's technique. Pre DRS batsman could safely get a big stride in and (Darrell Hair not withstanding) there would be too much doubt for the umpire to give them out LBW. With DRS they have to play more with the bat when on the defensive, which is a greater risk. Of course it's impossible to quantify or prove in stats guru.
are you serious?Jadeja it is
