Stumped!

They seriously need to sort out the run outs in stumped somehow.... its just too prevalent, and can really destroy the fun of a game at critical times.

Very narrow escape, De Klerk got all the big wickets but some decent tap as well. Strange game.
I`m more frustrated with Burger not taking wickets. He is by far my best bowler but consistently goes for runs and does not take wickets against the top batsmen. I don't quite understand why. Today I actually held him back for a few overs because I thought maybe in the first 2 or 3 overs batsmen still playing defensively enough that they see him off. But today he just went for runs and still no wickets.

But this loss came down to the batting, needed those 20 more runs... thanks for the game @Magrat Garlick.

In a T20 vs AX-W Rusty hit a 19-ball fifty. Legend. Set the tone as AXI piled up 205-7. It was always a tough ask for AX-W, but at least it yielded a stellar knock from Robin Warwick. 66 (33), good to see. Despite having the second-most appearances for AX-W, Warwick hadn't done a whole lot.

In the T20 vs ZCC, despite a rating disadvantage of over 5K, and a long opening partnership between SDE and Younis, we still restricted them to 119. This was chased down handily thanks to a partnership between Branning (60* off 40) and Simmonds (48 off 30). The twin spinners of Kaiser and Darnell were very good.

I hope this batting form bodes well for the T20 tonight; it looks like we're chasing a big target.

Two crap pulls.

Honestly, what’s the point. Across my two pulls the highest potential in either skill was 30.
I sympathise. I thought this was easy. I pulled 4 decent to great players in my first 10, I have subsequently kept 1 player in the next 32 (only just kept him) and sold 3.... the other 27 have just been outright rejected.

Went from 'we're crushing this' to '**** we're going to lose' in the space of 3 balls. Welp.

Crap YP as well. ZCC have a solid Dev side for now, and our next gen of players are coming of age, but quite concerned about 6-7 seasons down the road. No bright 16/17/18 year old talents atm.

This week did not help in any way...

FHK veteran seamer Pong Nam has officially hung up his boots and taking up a coaching role at the club.

He retires after 183 competitive games for the club, during which he took 320 wickets at a remarkable average of 14.92 He also represented FHK in 187 friendly matches, taking 249 wickets @ 22.97. Overall his 569 wickets are the 2nd highest in the club history, only behind Lai O Yin, who currently sits on 799 wickets. Only one other bowler - Lester Shum - has taken over 500 wickets for the club so far. All 569 of Pong's wickets have come in senior cricket, and he is the club's leading wicket-taker and second-most capped player when Dev games are not factored in.

Pong Nam started his career at FHK on Day 1, opening the bowling and taking 2/10 in the club's first ever game. He retired having played 98 SOD matches - the most in FHK history. He was offered the opportunity to play in FHK's next two SOD games, in order to become the first player to reach 100 SOD caps, but declined the opportunity. A loss in pace and the emergence of some good young talent has seen Pong lose his spot in the starting XI, and he didn't want to take up a spot in the team purely to achieve a personal milestone.

With Pong being offered a spot on the coaching staff, long-time head coach Zahoor Faqir will be seeking employment at a different club. A well rounded coach, he has currently received a 21K transfer offer from West Coast Raiders, with bidding set to end Friday 3:28 GMT.

We at FHK thank Pong for his services on the field, and look forward to him sharing his wisdom and experience with future generations of the club!

Pong Nam also becomes the second FHK HOF'er to join the coaching staff! Musa Shahbaz was our first HOF'er and player-turn-coach, took 15 wickets and scored 351 runs in 18 games for us in season 24. Pong joined the HOF in S27, when he took 60 wickets in 30 games, while scoring only 21 runs!

Ffs Tony Chung. Kept taking singles first ball of the over, tailenders don't hold out, we lose by just 1 run. 0-3 in the T20, looks like we're going back down.
Today's chase was just as bad. Top order collapsed chasing 139, but that's fine it happens. Tin Yau comes in at 5 and plays a blinder tho, and is on 42* off 27 with us needing 28 more to win from 24 balls.

He only faces 2 more balls in the next two overs, but thanks to some incredible hitting by LOY and Joshua Wong, we only need 12 more off the last 2 overs. Naturally, Joshua is on strike. Dot, legbye, and then finally Tin Yau gets strike aaannndd promptly holes out.

We end on 137/9, another 1 run loss. FFS. 4 losses in 6 games, two of them by just 1 run. We're good enough to compete here in Div 2 but lacking the experience to close out these close games.

Excellent Daniel Rowan knock to win today's T20, in his hundredth club game. Turned 21-3 into a simple chase of 170. 79* (41) for him.

Recently, from him:

Plus a 131 (124) in the AXI vs AXI game.

He's almost 28, and on his way out, but he's going pretty damn well.

Yay! managed to get a wicket against GG CC!

This after a horrendous friendly early this morning for the TMOs.

And another friendly coming up later this evening... the Orangutans will be exhausted by this evening.

Manage to keep GG to under 300... did not look possible at the half way point... but still a bit disappointed with final total, like to have kept it to under 250. Again Burger takes no wickets...
