GG CC thumped a much weaker side today.

Batting first, GG were reduced to 27 for 4 as most of the established batsmen threw their wickets away.

Enter Peter Sutherland coming in at number 6. Together with Riaan de Villiers, he added a 5th wicket partnership of 100 off 74 balls. Sutherland fell for 61 off 33 balls with 6x4 and 4x6…
Some hitting from Tony Watt and the tail took the score to 184.

There was not gonna be much of a chase for the opposition because GG’s bowlers were spot on.

The two speedsters of GG combined for figures of 8-1-28-2

Jayraj d Souza grabbed 4/19 off his four overs….

A good win for GG, but looking at the table they’re still in the relegation zone

Morpork won by 49 runs and took a bonus point. Darren Hollioake's filthy attempts of leg spin got the vital breakthroughs after they were well on the way at 71 for two to chase down the target of 183. Means we've beaten both league rivals in the first half of the season, and the No. 2 in the league still have to play our opponents today.

International Coach
Rusty and Branning hit 63 off the first four overs in my T20. #3 Simmonds initially was annoyingly plodding, hitting 28 (35) in partnership with Branning, before blooming with Murdoch, 30 (12) in that partnership to bring his innings SR above 120. Good hitting at the end saw us through to 215-5. In response, we won. Basically. But Indian national bat Hanif Waqar (surely he should be Pakistani? :p)'s ridiculous 113* (63) snagged the opposition a bonus point out of nowhere.

A few good pops. Michael Winton got to 36 skill bat and Felix O'Callaghan became the first AX-W bat to 30 skill. Most notably, Steve Ludlow got a pop to bring himself to 39 skill. Really pleased with how well he's developed, and he's got a few pops up his sleeve yet.

ZCC v Morpork U25 match two underway. Morpork ratings favourites after having added 41-skill Faiz Saad for a measly 4,000 dollars. However, Shahboss and Scorer are set and in for the long haul.

Faiz is a sneaky good signing.

Shahboss gone. Lot of wear and pace in the wicket, I'm hoping we runs on the board will give us the edge

BQ of 8.6 for Faiz lol.

I'm always on the fence about signing up older high-skilled players like him when I see them on the TM. On the one hand they can give good results at club level right away, but on the other hand it kinda messes up my long-term succession planning. Never quite sure how to play it, often end up just investing in youth instead. Don't have a good record of bringing kids up to their whole potential tho...

Nah we haven't taken our chances and Shkorer and Ahsan are excellent bats. Although tbf 46 moisture and sunny weather is pretty much sweet spot for when it helps no one.

Ahsan cruelly stranded on 99* to end the innings :( Bashir couldn't get bat on ball for the first 3 balls of the final over, skied the 4th one (batters should have crossed!) and the Chester hit 2 to selfishly keep the strike lol.

281/8 in the end. Healthy score but the pitch seems reasonable to bat on, perhaps tough to get your eye in given the wear. Lack of cloud cover will not suit Ghani/Bashir, but hopefully Sampath, Chung and Chester can get something out of this deck.

55 for one after 10 overs. Good rate but with a target as big as 282 there's always a chance of a couple of wickets derailing the chase.

Well this is turning into a surprisingly processional chase. Runs ticking along nicely and the required rate is down well below five. Even got through Ahsan's overs without needless wicket to the part-time filth.

Wasn't even close in the end! Our bowling lacking penetration on a relatively decent track, #RunsOnTheBoard not enough to induce any panic. Even had 2 runouts but couldn't make it count. Dropping Jed Aye on 23 a bit costly but we needed to produce more chances.

Congrats, on to the 'decider' over the weekend!

Meanwhile FHK have rolled out a full home-grown XI against ataraXIa today, in preparation for the Home Grown Heroes friendly comp. Basically our full strength XI with Ted Hui coming in for Ivan Lam. Agnes Chow and Qasim Abdullah got us off to a good start, 160 run opening partnership. Pitch is a beauty to bat on, we'll need at least 300 here. 6K ratings edge over AXI, but that's mostly thanks to our 73K fielding lol.

Poor finish by FHK, 249 definitely feels below par. But it's always tough scoring against an older ball on tracks like these.

Reckon we're in for a thumping. Hope we can drag this deep.
