Migara

International Coach
Before 1987

Imran
60 tests, 89 innings
2255 runs, 14 not out
Avg 30.06
2 x 100, 9 x 50

Kapil 82 tests , 119 innings
3426 runs , 11 not outs
Avg 31.72
5 x 100, 17 x 50
( and you know he was the fastest scorer in the world capable of scoring 95 ball 100 against greatest ever bowling attack )

Imran was more like Hadlee until then.

Procter Batting avg 25, bowling avg 15.
Then Kapil went to terminal decline and Imran did not.

5+wk
7. Kapil
8. Hadlee
9. Akram

Or
7. Botham
8. Davidson
9. Marshall

I dont see much issues there
Kapil and Botham are too weak bats to play at #7. This was the spot occupied by Gilchrist and Quinton de Koch averaging almost 50, or Shakib Al Hasan averaging 40.

6 bats, where 1 could be a batting AR + wk at 7, and four bowlers is the better combination.

Imran, Hadlee, Marshall and a spinner can make up bottom 4.

Nikhil99.99

U19 Cricketer
Sir Gary, kallis, imran are the 3 Imo and in that order. Then there is a bit of gap between the 3 and others.Miller would be my 4.

And another of his tons came in a match in which he took 10 ****ing wickets. And yet somehow this translates to worse than Kapil's 2 more centuries in 43 more games, a guy who took 1 fewer wicket per match at an average barely under 30. And also Mike Procter's glorious batting average of 18 (??????).
Oh, only now u guys understand the tripe that he normally posts..

I'll give him a break. It's not quite "If Wasim was so hampered by his slip fielders he should've trained then to catch better" levels of stupid.
See now, deliberately misquoting someone for cheap giggles is a whole new level of stupid.

What I did say was that other teams made slip fielding a priority, and even Smali said that during Imran's tenure such fielding wouldn't have been tolerated (except for himself of course). I also said that teams made slight sacrifices in batting to ensure they had at least some quality catching behind, for example that's one reason why Hooper kept his place So long (that and his "potential" ).

But your oversimplification works brilliantly as well.

I dont wanna wade into this debate but if you are giving the likes of Stuart Williams' test caps, you simply GOTTA play Hooper everytime he is fit and available, potential and slip catching be damned.

Botham averaged 40 batting at 7.
Cairns averaged 44 with bat 29.7 with ball compared to Botham's 40 with bat and 28.4 with ball. Cairns > Botham.

Brian McMIllain averaged 58 at #7, and averaged 33.8 with the ball. Overall McMillian averaged 39.4 with the bat.

Going on to keepers at 7, Gilly 46.4, QdK 49.0, and Tillekaratne 50.1.

There are too many options to play at #7 than Kapil or Botham.

U19 12th Man
