CW's Ranking of Pace Bowlers (Tests)

Walsh.

Why is Roberts better than Anderson ftr?
Roberts higher in peer rating plus slightly better stats wise.

I think the problem with Anderson is that bowlers normally have their reputation and standing pretty much cemented by the time they reach around 250/300 wickets. Hence why Wasim was still a top choice despite slowly down quite a bit in his latter years while late bloomers like Walsh were still rated around the same by the end of their career.

Yeah tbh the more I think about it, the main reason we're really rating Roberts that high is probably because of his peer ratings. Jimmy in his last 10-12 years or so has been just as good in a more batting friendly era and with pretty much no bowling support overseas.

Still deciding who I'm gonna vote for next but I think Anderson deserves to make top 20

You know, this is a tough one. I actually think in terms of sheer quality he's 100% one of the top 10 I've ever seen. Not sure whether to rank him high or just ignore him entirely because his career is pretty short so far.
Cummins could have a poor series in India later this year which would change his standing. So it is too early to place him though I wouldnt mind anyone putting him ahead of Anderson.

Yeah I'm just choosing to ignore him for now but once Fuller Pilch nominates Bond then Cummins is fair game.

Yeah, I suppose there's an element of probability to it, it's just that I think there's a very high chance he easily ends up above some of the bowlers above him in the list and little chance he doesn't.

I might nominate Cowie, Southee, or Wagner before Bond. Not sure as all 4 are very close imo. A poll on NZ's 2nd best ever test bowler would be an interesting one. Cummins might be already voted on by then.
