CW's Ranking of Spinners (Tests)

Kumble a solid vote, was deciding between him and Gibbs. He always gets overlooked and underrated in exercises like this. Partly because CW doesn't rate longevity to much, partly there is a certain romance and mystery attached to cricketers from before our times. Most of us have watched most of Kumble's career live, and so we've seen his lows, and our lingering memories are of the end of his career watching his powers fade.

Is Barnes considered a spinner? I'd vote for him if so. I don't think bowled that much quicker than the likes of O'Reilly, Underwood, Verity, or Kumble himself. And he described what he did as spinning the ball too.

Grimmett's overrated in general. Nothing wrong with him being #4 as such but it's basically on reputation and being long dead.

Would have Chandra over him easily, personally.
