Dont' really get what the argument here. Bowlers have intentionally or unintentionally done it before as well, but in recent times its increased massively in how many bowlers specifically bowl entire spells of almost exclusively wobble seam. I dont really think this was the case before?
Chaminda Vaas says hi. The whole over is wobble seam stuff.

No, this is about you desperately clutching at straws and trying to downplay and devalue Head's contribution at every oppurtunity you get
broski in the three tests that actually mattered

trav head got 248 runs at 62, 152 of which came in the one dig, the rest of which he averaged ~33
mitch starc got 117 runs at 58.5, 39 of which came in one dig, the rest of which he averaged ~40 (obviously boosted by two not outs, the 39 and in another dig, though even if we use RPI averaged ~30), and also took 14 wickets at 19.64

i think it's hardly beyond a reasonable mind to say that head's performances in the first three tests were good but starc's were better and i am not really minded to put as much weight in to the two dead rubbers than i am the first three. it is no secret that i don't rate travis head but come on lol

That series was also way more bowler friendly than a usual Ashes. Head stood out much more compared to the other batsmen. Starc was barely if at all better than Cummins or Boland.

i was not particularly impressed by head's 152 for reasons that i've erstwhile discussed but even taking it at it's highest as i have in the above post, personally for me watching it just felt like everything starc did in those first three tests abjectly ripped the heart out of england, with bat or with ball. that includes the rank leg stump half volley that dismissed burns first ball of the series, but if we are bringing luck into the equation then head had more than a fairshare of that too

That's the thing though, you don't have any reasons whatsoever beyond "i DoNt LiKe HiM wAaAaAaAaAaHh"

So much salt you could try to set the new land speed record on it
england's setting of a field and bowling plan to him, both early on but especially after he went past fifty was just atrocious man

he skied it beyond the slips to where you must always have a catching man to travis head thrice in the eighties alone come on lmao

This Ashes series has taken the notion that said guy is a hack and comprehensively blown it out of the water

No hard feelings personally, you are just plain wrong here though
tbf being a hack doesn't necessarily mean you can't make big scores, and nothing i saw in that ashes series was enough to displace that to my mind

pant here the summer before another prime example

From the fourth paragraph:

Simultaneously, there is also an argument that, despite the presence of a few top-class batters, defensive techniques have generally declined due to an excess of 20-over cricket.

Nice to at least see it acknowledged, albeit 'an argument'.

And look at the graph on bowling averages in four year periods - starts its trend down sharply from around 2008, which is when the IPL started and T20 took off with a bang.

If you look at the guys who bowled from 2007-10 (Steyn is a freak with 200 wickets at 21), the likes of Swann, Zaheer Khan, Murali, Johnson, Morkel and Anderson who averaged from 27-29 in that period, would no doubt be in the mid to low 20s from 2018 onwards. The 2007-10 played in an era with guys who honed their games on long form cricket, the guys now are bowling to guys fed on T20 dreams and Test specialists who weren't quite as good as their peers, so specialised.
