Fair bit of turnover for the Astronauts since their inception but Bennett has been a mainstay.

Ramsay is now effectively the club mascot. Neither in our strongest Dev side nor in the ‘high potential’ team.

Bhuban was recently sold and Murad will soon be retired.

Evans the only other active playing member in the squad.

ZCC and FHK both won their tosses and elected to bowl first. Both put in really good shifts in the field, ZCC restricting TMO to 190/9 and FHK bowling out The Buy Ins for 205. Both sides have now lost early wickets in their chases! Shahbaz Furqan bowled for a 1st ball duck by Zach Burger, and Agnes Chow run out for 1 by Nilesh Shikha!

Hope we pull off both these chases!

The Bujy Ins just haven't put the runs on the board - 205 is really a 5-10% chance on this pitch. FHK always has super fielding (70k) and yet again this led to two run outs - players who could bat and might have inched the Buy Ins to a more competitive total........

FHK have only lost 2 wkts at the half way point - we are going to need 8 somehow if we are going to win!

Dynamo have posted a huge 272 against Jura - and it is early days with less than 20 overs bowled - 2 wickets down already is painful but we probably have a slightly better chance here maybe 20- 25% ?

Collapse at The Wild Geese CG! 4 wickets for 37 runs, FHK now 145/5 with the last recognized batting pair in the middle. Asking rate is 4.2, that's not the issue. Our lack of batting depth is :/ Been a tough CWC4 for FHK.

ZCC have recovered to 137/2, with both Sajith and Raun having scored 50s. 54 needed at less than 3 an over. Hope they finish this off. Don't want to lose a wicket here.

Kovrig gone - Wild Geese are taking off and circling the pitch with increased conviction....... still a lot to do with so few runs to play for and so many overs....O Docherty is not the man (if you are a Geese fan) you'd wish to see coming onto bowl.....

Joshua slashes a 4 - that's just so wong! ;)

OK - that was a fantastic match to watch (really I would have said it if the last ball had gone for a single instead!) - I feel your pain Free HK - I had the same experience last week (and thought I was going to have another snatched away) - this was a roller coaster until Vinit - Wun-it

Had no right to get as close as we did after Kovrig got out! We need to bat deeper. Great game tho.

ZCC make it 4 out of 4 with another professional display. Shkorer 80* - love that touch resets at the start of a new season :p

Two tough games for the TMO senior team yesterday, both resulting in losses. The first against ZCC in the CWC championship. Not enough runs on the board to threaten the strong ZCC batting line-up. Bowlers put up a good fight though. The second against a strong GG CC, again not enough runs on the board resulted in a difficulty for the bowlers to defend. However still gave GG CC a little scare before the end of the game. (@SillyCowCorner1 thanks for the game)

It is clear the senior team is going to struggle this season, having lost their senior wk and captain. In particular the loss of Sree's experienced captaincy is leaving an obvious hole. But the next generation is the focus at the TMO club right now, and getting the talented squad the maximum exposure is the long term goal.

Couple of good results against SCC's teams today. ZCC beat GG CC by 3 wickets with 12 balls to spare in an exciting Dev encounter. We bowled first at the GG CG and kept a normally destructive batting unit to just 203/8. Riaan de Villiers and Robin Oxley scored 46 each, and Peter Sutherland hammered a quick 39. It was a good recovery from 118/5, highlighting their solid batting depth. Thankfully the ZCC U21s bat deep too. Everyone from 1-7 got double digits, the highlight being Ed Halliday's 62 off 46 balls, and we got over the line more comfortably than the scorecard suggests - 194/5 before a late wobble forced Bashir to hit the winning runs. Alex Xenos of GG CC the POTM for his brilliant figures of 2/22 and valuable 14* with the bat. Was clearly the pick of the bowlers today, left arm rockets from an unorthodox action at an avg quality of 8.4! Also took a catch in the field, good day out for the 21 year old.

FHK then faced Moooo in a Friendly T20. We did weaken the lineup a bit, but still outrated the visitors by 10k. We played 3 allrounders - Andy Li and Tiffany Yuen joining Ivan Lam in the XI. The three frontline bowlers were all guys who are fighting to keep their spot in the senior squad - LOY, Pong Nam and Bikswing Nouding. However our top 5 was full strength, and they did the damage. We won the toss and elected to bat first. Yau hit 45 off 37 and Kovrig 56 off just 29, paving the way for young Andy Li to go berserk and hammer 32 off just 10 balls (4 sixes)!. 184/5, proved to be too steep for the calves, who were shot out for just 87! They were actually 73/4 in 9 overs, then LOY got the ball and took a hattrick with his first three deliveries lol. He ended with 2-1-2-4, and Andy Li wrapped up the game with 2 wickets in 5 balls.

Thanks for the games @SillyCowCorner1 , we'll do rematches again soon :)

It was getting tight when the middle order of GG CC failed epically. But good from Bram Human to adjust and play situational cricket. He made 71 off 107; a knock that's unlike most of Bram's knocks. When he went in the 34th over, only 36 was required.
I have to give a shoutout to Tony Watt, another quality innings from him down the order.

Earlier in the game, impressed with the opening bowlers...it looked like a tough wicket to bat on upfront. Xenos sending down 4 maidens.
Gritty knock from Nathan Reid.

Our boys just didn't get enough runs on the board. There were lots of starts, but they couldn't push on. Sutherland needs to tone it down a bit...he's going mad max early and not able to finish innings these days.

I think some of our bowlers did well, Xenos (what a spell) and Aylmer...I felt a senior bowler in Obeysekere let us down in this game.
We lacked a specialist 5th bowler, and that hurt us in the end. The combined figures of four bowlers used as the 5th bowler read, 8-0-46-2...it's still better figures than Obeysekere and Plaatjies.

And yes, would love playing more games against your boys. GG CC obviously giving the better challenge (CW3 winners afterall :p:p )

Just played three friendlies on three super-flat pitches.

Overnight against the MTOs, their Dev side made 244-8. Alonso Kock was first to go for 87 (71), doing the sort of bashing older Dev batsmen are prone to do. His opening partner, the talented Liam Levy, ground his way to 36 (84) before falling to Eddie Oakes - who bowled really well for 5-23 (4). Anthony Davidson battered the bowling for 54 (29). The chase went very pleasingly. Ghous Saadi 51 (44), Richard Simmonds 64 (66), Shawn Dee 64* (54), Kurt Murdoch 31* (33). Donald Hunt was taken to, going for 73 off his 7 as the target was chased down easily. Fun runfest.

AX hosted twin friendlies against SCC. In a bit of a hurry, so shortened synopses.

AXI vs GG: 134 was way under par. Daniel Rowan 55 (43), Frans Potgieter 27 (19). Bram smashed the bowlers around for 52 (27). But somehow GG didn't convert 73-1 (7.3) into a win. They just collapsed. Rusty's wickets instrumental.

Aat Bernstein hit 39 (23) as Moooo got 139-8. Solid performance from the AX-W bowlers. Wermelskircher was handled wonderfully up top, as Felix O'Callaghan's 78 (48) brought about an easy win. Shame he couldn't get the red ink.

Three wins. Hope it brings good luck for the first game of the season, today!
