Bit confusing use of the bowlers for Wellington again today. Ravindra and Younghusband controlling things in the middle overs, but no overs for Bracewell. Then, Bennett who's back in the team only bowls two overs despite only going at 5.5 early on. Perhaps a bit harsher today as before van Beek's last over (the 19th) Wellington were still in a reasonable position. I'd have probably thought Bennett should have bowled at the time Neesham bowled his 3rd.

Cam Fletcher is so good. There was a time a few seasons ago where I started to really rate Van Beek, but man he bowled some rubbish at the end there.

Honest question, would Van Beek even make a full strengh Dutch team at the moment?
Well I don't know how the pitches are but Afghanistan managed scores of 222, 237, and 254 (all in 50 overs) against the Dutch bowling when batting 1st in their 3-0 series win in Qatar. Dutch bowler Vivian Kingma has now been banned for 4 matches for ball tampering. The Dutch side is a very young one so at least LVB would give them more experience (and he is a gun fielder).

I don't see the point in Rippon and Kitchen playing for Otago A today?! They are both in the actual first Otago team , while Rippon has come back from an injury, Kitchen has been playing everything.

Have they literally run out of players down there?

Would have thought Jacob Cumming, despite having a heavy recent workload of U19 tournament and the Dev Squad, would be the obvious choice instead of one of them.

I guess Otago are moving into Ford Trophy warm-up mode.

As far as experienced Dutch bowlers plying their trade around the world I would probably look to Timm van der Gugten over van Beek myself

Not sure where van Meekeren is either, half a yard quicker than most of the rest of them

A bit disappointing that none of the non test Black Caps who've played the majority of the SS have bossed the competition. Ferguson being the exception. How would a tournament team look? I'm thinking along the lines of.
For me Cam Fletcher is the player who's raised his profile the most. Didn't realise he was such a strong striker.

Cleaver
Macewell

Thorn Parkes with a couple of great knocks for Otago A over the last couple of days. All but carried his bat for 145* yesterday and currently 76 today. Hopefully in line for a call up to the Ford Trophy.

Bowes 314 runs SR 142 ahead of Hay 234 runs SR 121. Otherwise yes.

Bcos they will be playing ODIs in NZ
I genuinely did not even realise that at first. In that case it seems highly likely he would be picked for that series if he makes himself available

I was just more wondering if he would be in the top 3 or 4 Dutch eligible seam bowlers around if everyone was available. I would say probably not myself, but not with any great confidence

Cam Fletcher is a jet. If they're looking at another keeping option that isn't Conway, and they should, he's your man. I'd have him ahead of Cleaver, seems to be much more consistent. And a more cleaner striker at the death.

Hope they haven't written CdG off either. He could be a hell of an asset on Australian decks

I always thought Fletcher was much more Watling like. Coming in at 5 down to save the game batting with the tail rather than the hitter he's showing himself to be. Good to have a keeper who can do both. Putting serious heat on Blundell now I think and be good if Conway could just concentrate on batting if Fletcher can fit into the balance of the T20 lineup.

Yeah, from what I’ve seen Fletcher’s glove work is way more polished than Blundell’s as well. Blundell needs to perform in the SA series or he may not have an automatic spot for the trip to England.

Yep, really good to see. He was ND’s young cricketer of the year only 2 or 3 seasons ago. Good on him for making the move looks like it should pay off for him fairly soon.

On that we really have to find a way of bringing some of that youth into our domestic set up. We have batsman galore the last few years making these Under 19 NZ and development teams and yet none of them a getting a chance in domestic cricket. No need to bring in guys like Raval IMO when we have the talent here

Yeah he had one great season where it looked like his action clicked, point of delivery seemed a little higher, a little more pace and zip off the wicket and he took 40 FC wickets at 14.5. Doesn't seem he know how he did it though, all seasons before and after were sub-20 wickets and looked pretty medium paced. I think I compared him to Matt Henry - at his best, when everything is working and he's bowling high 130s (I assume) he's a real threat, and when he's not he's a plodder.
