Markram is starting to cop some criticism, but he still currently averages more than Bavuma and the latter has been there for longer, making him more of a target. People criticising Bavuma also tend to hold him up as an example of everything that's wrong with South Africa's attempts to transform the sport, but that's not really a discussion for this thread.

markram is a hard handed walking wicket right now. things ain't gonna get easier for him looking at who south africa have got to play in 2022. new zealand, england and australia away.

Gambhir: We've made a lot of noise about DRS, we need to take it or leave it. If we have issues, we should say we don't want the technology because these things happen with technology. And India is not the only one at the receiving end of it. These things can go either way.

Markram's failures aren't getting half the attention that Bavuma has got(although I do believe that Markram has more potential). And Rassie, no one even talks about his batting. Bavuma clearly had a bad patch no doubt, his issue is converting starts and it is something that can be fixed. There are bigger issues for SA to address before even coming to Bavuma's inability to turn starts/50s into big scores.
