Well, it was a much better ball that got Shardul though. Ash's was just a waste. So was Virat's but at least he had done a job till then and maybe he felt it was time to press the accelerator a bit to get the lead up since the partnership had gone on as long as it had.

I still think it is more 2 bad shots than 3 tbh. That ball moved off a full length and would have gotten most batsmen in trouble. I am fine with getting out to that given he is a #8.

What innings are you watching? He has consistently played and missed and swung wild at anything outside of off. The bowling has been low on pace, poor lines and the field settings have allowed for shots over cover. This has been as lucky as any of his innings.

But then again, if he had decided that was the moment to turn to attack, you cant begrudge him that after all that hardwork. I think he should not have gone for that shot any which way given how bad his cover driving is at the moment, but I feel its more understandable than whatever Ashwin was thinking. Umesh throwing it away as I type too. I guess the discipline is an issue with our tailenders. Olivier stayed there for 30 odd balls FFS.
