If he hits a century in Hobart will we be too bitter to applaud it?

Spikey for sure, but surely the rest of us love seeing a young man get his rewards.
I will give Harris a golf clap but reality is that it will likely be a stay of execution

Selectors are massively underestimating Pakistan if they are confident Harris will score runs against them

Shaheen is a serious bowler & will probably eat him for breakfast

I think what Harris needs is a bit of arm around the shoulder type man management from his skipper.

Specifically, in a headlock, followed by an arm bar, followed by a power bomb, followed by some Full Metal Jacket style flaggelation by each of his teammates, with bats, until he learns to produce his best for his country (and also save for a house deposit instead of doing effete things such as ordering brunch).

As was the norm in the Vietnam/Chappell era.

Testing cricket. Cummins + Starc seemingly losing it is hurting. Probably need to rest one of them for Hobart.

Usman is like Willem Dafoe getting murdered by his own man

Rumour has it that Harris will be retained because “continuity”

Zero chance that Carey gets dropped
Source? Most of the pundits are saying they'd drop Harris, whereas most of them were defending him prior to yesterday.

That would be close to the worst selectoral decision of all-time. It's one thing to pick him when there weren't good alternate openers available. It's quite another when the guy challenging him scored twin tons.

captains should shake on it soon. 6 wickets, only 35 overs to get them. highly unlikely. Pitch is way too flat.

a few changes for the hobart test dead rubber, jhye richardson to definitely come in if fit, and also perhaps swepson(for lyon - rested ), neser for the dead rubber 5th test. hazlewood already ruled out.

perhaps boland might keep his place for another test, but definitely starc will be rested, totally ineffective in the 2nd innings here.

attack could be cummins, neser, richardson and swepson. 3 of the 4 are fresh.

Congrats to the SCG curator for randomly leaving loads of grass on the pitch with a wet forecast for no apparent reason and producing yet another surface that doesn't deteriorate at all.

Now the most boring wicket in Australia, I'm calling it. God bless the MCG for fixing their mess.

It'll be 5 draws in 8 games. Curator really needs to go
Oof, that bad?

We should do a comparison thread of innings scores from 2010 - 2017 and 2018 - 2022 across the grounds. Would be ITSTL. I'm just glad the days of pitches like those in 2014 - 2017 are mostly gone.

I'd say that rain was responsible for at least three of them, but the pitch flattened out hard from Day 3 onwards. Given the forecast it was really a neither or situation.

It was entirely predictable that this would happen as soon as he decided to leave so much live grass on the pitch. It's just not gonna deteriorate and it'll flatten out into a complete road, at least for spinners.

Yep, 2015, 2016, 2019 and 2021 were all draws. 2016 was basically a washout, 2019 would've been a result if the last two days weren't washed out and 2021 would've been an Australian win with better strategy. Still not good.
