Bairstow's definitely been a protected species for quite a while but I think this innings could spell the end of Buttler's Test career.

In terms of sticking around for him in Australian conditions he's got three horrible #11s in a row to come. Probably doesn't want to wait until they're there.

Yeah. Bairstow as a keeper averages much higher and is actually good in the role. Played about 30 games too many as a specialist bat though.

Yeah when I said three #11s to come I meant the next three. I don't think Bairstow really trusts them to last more than a couple of overs, and Wood is handy enough but realistically only a reasonable #9 batting a spot too high in these conditions. Not exactly known for his defensive stickability either so he could fall at any time even if he'd be good to average 17 or whatever.
