well not but i don't think he needs to quite bat like this for the #8
In terms of sticking around for him in Australian conditions he's got three horrible #11s in a row to come. Probably doesn't want to wait until they're there.

Wood can actually bat a bit & is better than a #11
Yeah when I said three #11s to come I meant the next three. I don't think Bairstow really trusts them to last more than a couple of overs, and Wood is handy enough but realistically only a reasonable #9 batting a spot too high in these conditions. Not exactly known for his defensive stickability either so he could fall at any time even if he'd be good to average 17 or whatever.
