good day for the Aussies with all but Cam Green chipping in.
however their tactics towards the end were SOFT and it's hard to work out why.
they should have pushed forward harder in the latter stages, even if they were bowled out much sooner for say 380/90, that would've been better.
to have an extra 30/40 mins bowling tonight would've probably given them the chance to snare Root.
with more rain and thunderstorms due in the next couple days, the Baggys should have been looking to move the game forward.

I think Roots definitely got to stand down as captain after this series. England have had their moments this series with the ball then root brings in some crap tactics and the momentum is gone. They had Starc and Cummins coming in then Root starts bringing in his spinners when he could of brought Wood in and be more agressive and end the tail quicker with less runs scored.

And who came up with the Tactic for stokes to play the bouncer role? His barely bowling over 130 should of got Wood to do it at over 150. They really missed Archer this series, England’s bowlers are good but these slower 130s their bowling ain’t going to win in Australia. India in their last few tours in Aus and South Africa had the right bowlers in the past to do it. These English bowlers give up way to easily when they don’t get the wickets quickly and don’t toil hard enough, it’s much easier in England to bowl.

Root is extremely likely to stay captain for the simple reason: there is no one else to give it to.

There's literally only one other player (Stokes) who's spot is guaranteed in the XI and he's just returned from an extended break for his mental health so can't be given the job right now.

Silverwood is likely to be sacked as coach though I think.

Seriously give to Burns for the short-term. I know people wlll say he's not in the XI and not guaranteed a place but there has to be change - at least he's captained his county side for many years. It's just quite frankly painful to watch Root so out of his depth in the field

Then identify a long-term prospect for either the start of next summer or sometime in 2023.

Even I'd go along with that as Crawley is worse than Burns anyway so no point picking him. We should boot out about 3 or 4 of the failing bats and pick a new crop from county cricket and give them a chance instead of doing the 90s tribute act of regurgitating the same **** every time.
