I really don't get 'thats Pant' excuses... I am fine with playing aggressive, or having a natural attacking game style. But running down the wicket on your 3rd ball against Rabada in the middle of a great spell is brain dead. Trying to get through the spell, taking 10 balls to get your eye in before taking a few liberties, that I`m fine with. But that shot was just an unintelligent hoick.
Pant plays on instinct a lot and occasionally his instinct is going to be dumb

There's a fine line to balance between playing with a plan and playing with your instinct, and he got it wrong there. Hopefully he'll learn from it. I don't want him to overhaul his entire approach because of one mistake, but there is room for refinement.

exactly right

if it’s a stupid decision it’s a stupid decision regardless of if it comes off or not because across time one who continues making the stupid decision will always have it catch up on them at some point. a case of we have to be lucky once you have to be lucky every time sort of thing

I agree, that was a terrible shot in context of the game. He needs some sort of improvement, but would still back him to continue playing aggressively.

I don't think you can play the sort of innings that he has played so far just by being "lucky". He is a talented batsman who is capable of pulling off some crazy stuff, needs to be a little calculative though.

I am actually ok with even running down the wicket but when you know the ball is not there for the aerial shot, you can still pull out of it. Its not like it was gonna hit the stumps. That was the disappointing part.

Same could be said about Afridi.
How? One is just 24 and the other one played his entire career in the same fashion without making any change. Pant has already played some very good test knocks outside SC while Afridi barely did anything outside India Pak. I think Pant will improve over time, but we'll definitely have these moments of frustration with him time and again.

I mean Afridi played few overseas as compared to Pant and he did scored a century.

Pant was destined to play cricket only to screw Australians.

He shouldn't be picked against other teams.
