tbf that's just as true when India was batting.

Anyway, Indian fans to bow down to the lord without whom we were gonna lose this by an innings and change.
India had to scrape their way to a competitive score with the lower order to an even greater degree though.

Pujara should bat like a gully cricketer & score a few.. His scoring shots & defence are awful. Will gladly take Pujara + Rahane contributing 27 runs here. Useless cu*ks

It's also worth noting that Thakur is basically a near 100% starter in away games and was just injured for a couple of them.

In home games, India has a very distinct strategy of playing 2 pacers who generally open the bowling which makes it much harder for pacers to get selected than usual due to how OP Ashwin/Jadeja/Axar are at the moment. You're competing for 2 slots with Bumrah, SIraj, new Ishant and the likes of a Shami or a Umesh who average 20 at home in conditions where we don't need the batting quite as much. You also need to almost exclusively open the bowling. The competition is so steep that there is a often a legit argument for overlooking a fit Bumrah who is an ATG quality bowler.

It's absolutely brutal to get picked regularly as a fast bowling all rounder in the Indian test side in India right now and several great all rounders across history with excellent careers and a combination of thousands of runs/hundreds of wickets would struggle to do so due to not being fitting the niche of being a opening fast bowler who averages 20-22.

It's really harsh to penalize Thakur for that IMO. Especially when he's in the middle of his fifth test.
He has a decent first class record as a bowler. He's not exactly stumbling onto these figures.

They should get dropped despite a score, unless obviously you're talking about centuries or something.
Agree with the should (Should have been dropped before the tour in fact imo), but don't think the team will drop if they somehow scrape to a 40 or something.
