***Official*** India in South Africa 2021-22

Rasimione

U19 Captain
Markram is not an opener. One day the coach and selectors will realise this and the South African middle order will be better for it.

Has Markram ever batted down the order domestically? It was his success opening in franchise cricket that got him the test spot, so as long as he continues to do that then I think they're going to stick with him opening in tests.

How bad did Siraj's hamstring injury look?

If he plays no further part in this innings, it's guaranteed 1-1. Bumrah & Shami can't bowl all the overs.

Last test it was Bumrah and now it's Siraj. And in Australia, a bowler(s) went down almost every test. This is happening way too often!

He ran in and then suddenly pulled up, and was off the field pretty quickly.

Are you implying that they do not know how to manage their workload and bowl at top gear all the time?
Nah I'm saying that young, inexperienced bowlers who are new to Test cricket get injuries, with very few exceptions. The intensity is just something their bodies take time to build up to handle. Remember the period a few years ago where Aus fast bowlers could barely string three games together without copping injuries?

Yeah, James Pattinson looked seriously good before injuries got to him. Siddle gets trolled for being a vegan but there is a possibility that he was overused as a workhorse. Pat Cummins remodelled his bowling and transformed from an out and out fast bowler to a rapid bowler who bowls clinical leg cutters.

Game is still alive.. SA too have thin batting & a long tail with a debutant wk. If India restricts them to 220-230 & makes this a 1 inns shootout then perhaps they have a chance

And if it is like Saini's hamstring at Gabba, he did come back and bowl a bit. Lets see how it goes for Siraj.
Saini had a groin strain and he wasn't great in the 2nd bowling innings. I don't think Siraj will recover that well if it's a hamstring injury for sure, considering what happened to Vihari at Sydney.
