SA are missing a genuine classic opening bowling option. All the bowers feel more like back of a length 2nd/3rd bowling options. I am very much hoping that Sipamla gains better control because the movement he gets could be a big answer from an opening bowler perspective.

Safe to say the Olivier pre-Kolpak is no more. @StephenZA I agree on Sipamla. Mulder has actually been the most new ball like bowler for SA recently. Constantly pitching it up and teasing the edge.

olivier probably didn't have to exert himself too much to get wickets in eng with the dukes

maybe he's lost his pace for good?

I do wonder about some of the SA fielding positions. You can call it bad luck, but lots of the balls appear short and I wonder if they hanging back or not recognizing the slower nature of the pitch. Happened first day of first test as well.

How unusual to see openers play competently.

Watching Crawley and whoever the **** partners him on Wednesday will be such a downgrade.

Yeah I know bat pads lose a lot of momentum, but Rassie seemed to be in a very middle-ish position where he was in the lid.

Rahul's place in the team is more secure now than it has ever been probably. Who would have thought before the England tour that he is going to be captaining the team in a one off game or even a jamodi series ?
We have 4 good openers now.

Guess Rahul might step in to the middle order when they decide to drop one or two of the current ones.

Whatever it takes!!!
Mayank played a similarly bad shot at the Gabba when pretty well set after a break. Needs to tighten up that aspect of his batting.
