***Official*** Bangladesh in NZ 2021-22

If he'd debuted several years later than he actually did while learning in a decent FC comp he'd have been a lot closer to that 40 already sadly.
He absolutely dominated the FC comp he was in too. I think he averaged about 65 in it before debut, often opening and keeping at the same time. Just too good.

Shame what's happened to Mosaddek. :(

The World Champions look to be having a few issues here with this powerful Bangladesh line-up. Pitch is flat but apart from Wagner the attack looks impotent.

Sad that Ferguson wasn't perservered with. He went into that one Perth test under-done, had a catch dropped off his bowling, and then got injured. It was managements fault he got injured, pure and simple: they missed opportunities to get him match fit and we've paid the price. If he was good enough to get picked in the first place then why not give him more than just one opportunity? Seems Ravindra is getting multiple chances and hasn't exactly set the world on fire.

If we are to ever win another test against Australia then we will need a well-rounded attack. Samey medium pace / swing bowlers + a toothless 'spinner' will not get it done.
Yes as everyone knows our seam attack is actually very bad

brilliant effort from bangladesh...its their third tour to these shores in a span of 5 years, they know this place reasonably well now.... and they were competitive at times (especially first innning totals) in 2017....remember mushfiq and shakib having a mammoth 300 run stand on a flat surface

It just takes them all such a long time to make up for the **** averages they accumulate while they're learning to get up to test standard when they're already on the job. We just don't play enough matches for them to do it much quicker either.
His low average is surprising. In his first test, he got a fifty against steyn and co iirc. Not sure what happened then because I’ve seen him hitting 50s quite often. Its those big scores that hurt him I guess.

I think we need to give Bangladesh some credit. They've been superb from Day 1 - never given in, and have been up for the fight in all aspects of the game. Everyone seemed to right them off ahead of the series and they're well on the way to proving us all wrong.
Yes, biggest thing is that quite unusually they didn't give up and have heads drop when NZ got a couple of partnerships together when batting - persistence paid off. NZ really should have scored 450, even moreso in retrospect, as it's a lovely wicket to bat on. Young and Conway looked extremely comfortable and ready for some stat-padding, both semi-unfortunate dismissals (but good work by Bangladesh) and surprisingly no other real partnerships followed. Usually the tail wags at home too.

Bangla batting has been good too.

Dunno, he wasn't very good at playing through the off side for a few years from memory?

They tried to bat him in the top 3 for a while and he failed miserably at that. He's played 23 of his 28 Tests batting 4 or below and he averages 39 there.

Nah the pitch is flat and NZ’ve bowled piss (Wagner aside, and even then he’s given the Bangerz a couple of freebies).

Boult just seems to have completely lost his test match length. Just immediately back to that T20 length with the odd yorker/bouncer chucked in. Given how much T20 he plays compared to tests, I worry that we may never again see Boult at his best in whites.
Would say NZ bowling has been patchy rather than piss - haven't bled runs but just a little off since the very first new ball spell from Southee and Boult yesterday, which wasn't accurate enough. Agree about Boult in general though, transformed from test-only specialist in 2015 to our best T20 bowler, but it's come at a cost, most easily observed in terms of reduced new-ball swing. This is his first test in a while, will be watching closely how he goes this summer.

Honestly Mominul and Joy in particular never looked comfortable and could’ve been out 5 times each. We haven’t been great but it’s also just been one of those innings. **** does happen.

Who decided that 3rd man was a banned position for orthodox bowling? With a spread slip cordon and no 3rd man it’s like we’re bowling to feed Mominul runs from edges

what were the chances Bangladesh's top 6 batsman all faced over 50 balls each?
great fighting team effort to say the least.

Lol who is this ranting **** chatting absolute ****e? The Kiwi Warney.
Presumably Mark Richardson who thinks we spend 5 hours a day checking whether or not a fielder has slid into the rope? And also Grant Elliott, who says painting a rope would take two days

Incidentally, it is quite funny to see NZ posters suddenly decry us as rubbish. It's a flat deck, we've bowled a bit of rubbish, they've been quite arsey at times but also batted very well at times. Might need to relax a bit on the epitaph for NZ in the new WTC window.

Not even sure Patel would've made a massive difference, it's a very slow deck. I know their spinners took wickets but that was our average approach to batting moreso - which felt embarrassingly like 'oh well it's Bangladesh, we'll roll them'

Mark Richardson who thinks $5 should cover the labour of painting a rope.

Since he was on TV, and especially since he became a mouthpiece on morning TV, yep. He did a stint on radio when he was still playing for Auckland, and was outstanding. Got on TV, then just started spouting whatever contradictory nonsense he could find. Read also: M.Vaughan. Very similar commentary personas.
