Good to see Mominul batting with real intent in a captain's knock designed to move the game forward. If only Soumya Sarkar were around to thrash, if only the former jerk captain had stuck around.

Bangladesh might have been atrocious against Pakistan but they are hopefully developing pretty good batting depth considering Tamim, Shakib, and Mahmulladah are missing.

Nah the pitch is flat and NZ’ve bowled piss (Wagner aside, and even then he’s given the Bangerz a couple of freebies).

Boult just seems to have completely lost his test match length. Just immediately back to that T20 length with the odd yorker/bouncer chucked in. Given how much T20 he plays compared to tests, I worry that we may never again see Boult at his best in whites.

Just tuned in. Disappointing score for Bangladesh losing 2 for 40ish, but also, at the same time, better than I expected.

Getting through an entire session of a test match making just 43 runs is a feat in itself mind you.

Still think our batting line up is wrong. Shanto to open and Joy at 3 ideally. When Tamim comes, Sandman can be dropped. Also would swap Liton/Yasir or rather drop Yasir for a bowler.

I think we need to give Bangladesh some credit. They've been superb from Day 1 - never given in, and have been up for the fight in all aspects of the game. Everyone seemed to right them off ahead of the series and they're well on the way to proving us all wrong.

As Fuller Pilch mentioned, imagine if Tamim, Shakib and Mahmulladah were playing. We'd be in a lot more trouble right about now.

Also **** me, I'd forgotten how small your grounds are lads. This is basically a velodrome.

Oooft... that is not a good spot to be hit by a cricket ball.

Mahmudullah has retired from Tests after being dropped. I think he'd probably improve the side anyway but we do probably need to stop pretending like he's some sort of unfortunate missing player from the tour.

The World Champions look to be having a few issues here with this powerful Bangladesh line-up. Pitch is flat but apart from Wagner the attack looks impotent.

Sad that Ferguson wasn't perservered with. He went into that one Perth test under-done, had a catch dropped off his bowling, and then got injured. It was managements fault he got injured, pure and simple: they missed opportunities to get him match fit and we've paid the price. If he was good enough to get picked in the first place then why not give him more than just one opportunity? Seems Ravindra is getting multiple chances and hasn't exactly set the world on fire.

If we are to ever win another test against Australia then we will need a well-rounded attack. Samey medium pace / swing bowlers + a toothless 'spinner' will not get it done.

Liton’s average is 32 currently. Think he’s 40+ test match batsman. Got to convert more.
If he'd debuted several years later than he actually did while learning in a decent FC comp he'd have been a lot closer to that 40 already sadly.

It just takes them all such a long time to make up for the **** averages they accumulate while they're learning to get up to test standard when they're already on the job. We just don't play enough matches for them to do it much quicker either.

Really showed a lack of experience this morning. You could see his mindset was, done the hard work, time to cash in, when what he needed to be thinking was keep it tight, make it to lunch then cash in.
Mominul looks to have subscribed to this instead but is still struggling to pull it off.
