this may seem unimportant to some, however I'm convinced NZ have had their batting order wrong for years now.
TIM SOUTHEES innings of 77 not out on his test debut is nothing short of a MYTH.
who apart from MATTHEW SINCLAIR and DEVON CONWAY(only temporarily) scores their highest test score on debut?
certainly for a bowler, that has played for many a year, high scoring on their 1st of 115 innings is PUZZLING.
would much prefer to see him at 10, even 11 in cases.
both SOUTHEE and BOULT average about the same, but surely if Trent had been given Tims opportunities that would be different.
the point is you want batsman who can stay in as long as possible so your better batman can score as much as possible,
as well as building on partnerships throughout the innings.
one thing you can always be confident about, is that when Tim comes to the wicket, the next wicket will be falling quite quickly,
regardless of whether he gets a quick 20(usually not).
much handier to get a quick 15-20 batting at number 11.
Boult’s an ideal number 11. Can’t play a forward defensive to save his life but fantastic at slogging quick runs. Southee’s not much different tbf but I think he’s got a sliver more natural talent so I’m OK with him batting above Boult. Good argument that Wagner should bat above both though.

Wish Jamieson would bowl a few more inswingers to the left hander from around the wicket.

Honestly Boult always seemed to me to be a really talented ball striker who was almost actively trying to look like a bad batsman. Like surely you can coach some basic technique into a professional cricketer who is more than capable of bopping international bowlers back over their heads for 6 with pretty decent regularity?

This test match is vital to bangers development
They must not crumble
This innings will define Rahims career he must lead

I would definitely give Wagner another over... or two.

No complaints about the no ball call, clearly nothing behind the line.

Obviously this hasn’t been our best bowling performance, but still a lot of good bowling for little reward. Makes a nice change from normal ‘NZvsBangladeshAtHome’ I guess.
