Good thing all those Lions players got sent back home. I'd be trying literally anyone new at this point.

Anyway well done Oz on legitimately regaining the Ashes. I can’t come up with an asterisk for this one

it's more of a lost generation kind of deal; a complete failure to turn the talented batsmen of the bairstow/buttler generation into competent test batsmen. no way in hell should a team as resourced as england's be relying on the likes of burns and sibley
yep and I think you touched on it the other day. you only have to look at the absurd amount of highly talented batsman in white ball cricket not getting near the England side (Clarke, Duckett, Vince, Banton, Salt, Hain) to see there is a glut of talented ball strikers in England and that the system is not doing enough with them.

I remember after the 09 Ashes, Freddie said in a press conference that he could see Stuart Broad batting at 4 in the future (seriously!)

I’m not against it…

Why do you think we’ve not been able to develop them/ why have they not been able to develop themselves?

Two decades of developing white ball batsmen from the ground up. They hate red ball batting skills as much as they hate spinners in England.

There's a slew of articles, mostly from Dobell as much as he's a moron. Generally provides the nail on the head as to the institutional issues

mate if I had the answer to that I could be at the ecb right now making good people redundant and living off totally unwarranted six figure bonuses

from the stuff I can see though as in the cc I watch every year. they should bin the Duke and find a way to incentivise clubs into producing flatter pitches. batting in cc is about survival. it's grim and about hanging on knowing one is coming that has your name on it.

young batsman more or less have zero idea on how to bat deep.

unchanged bowling attack surely for SCG? just bowled ENG out for 60odd. this bowling attack is genius.

hazlewood, jhye will be unable to force back into the team unless starc gets rested.

you cant drop boland - genius bowler. why he wasnt played in series against india or other series is befuddling.
