Thinking about it, your boys won the third test after we had won the first two, so that wouldn't be it. Maybe 2001?
Could be, yeah. That was the series where Waugh famously announced the playing XI for the first test about four weeks before it started.

perhaps it's not as bad as I make out, a combination of very good bowling and poor batting.
however it seems to be bouncing and zipping through quickly quite regularly.
Starc bowled a ball just short of a good length and it almost took Hameed's head off!
ball is moving unpredictably through the air and off the seam. its a green wicket. nearly all batting sides will find it tough, except maybe india's current batting unit.

Wow just see you brought up that big 80k!
Congrats hanging around that long:)
It hasn’t been easy, Ash. Very few of the people who post regularly on here are as decent as your good self. But I have persisted.
Some would say like mould in a shower, but I wouldn’t be so unkind.
The record breaker will shortly be upon us. It’ll hurt a few feelings, but the truth must be told.

in the absence of fuller pilch and stevenz can you let me know how new zealand would go? or did go in similar conditions in an unrelated match?

new zealand batting would be 2nd best in such conditions. led by kane who was the no.1 batter as recently as june

the blackcaps would probably go quite well on such a pitch and conditions.
problem for them, would be if their opponents were Australia.
for some reason, when they play the old enemy and big brother, they seem to mentally capitulate.
looking forward to the day they can overcome this...

so boland's was basically an ashes defining- winning selection decision if i ever saw one.
