3rd Test at Melbourne - December 26 - 30

yeah jokes aside he’s bowled very accurately and hasn’t acquitted himself poorly at all tbh: you don’t actually need to be raw pace on to succeed here if you bowl a good length. vern taking a four for at the waca when the saffers won is a prime example
i will say as regards this, wood’s fast enough to get away with the odd short ball here as an enforcement option.

but if you can’t bowl 140+ and you aren’t wagner it’s a waste of time to bowl short of a length in australian pitches. you just get clattered.

After watching 14 Peaks yesterday and seeing Anderson averaging 13.4 this series with the ball, I'm convinced man can achieve anything he sets himself to.

England have done well today but you really wonder what might have been had they not put up an hour of complete garbage last night with the new rock

as it is, this looks roughly a par score to me. meanwhile, for the test of the series, just tell cam green to hit it if it's in his zone

No five fer for Anderson. Good.

lead decent in the context of the game. Plenty still in the deck

both batting lineups super brittleness on display. thats why neither will ever be ranked in the top 2 for a long time.

It's already an insurmountable lead, obviously, but we can at least tell ourselves we're in for a contest. Otherwise what's the point?

nah this a bad take.

this is a sweet bowling pitch and england learned to pitch it up today and executed on that plan well for enough of the day to fight their way back in to the game. hardly fair to say that this was a hurhur meme australia lollapse, this was a good pressure bowling day from the england unit countenanced by some fine batting by australia’s tail to bring the lead to something that should be enough

Gill's had some genuinely gun moments at Tests tbf, a little bit different to Pope or Green IMO.
Pope played a massive part in England winning that series in SA, also using the term moments for Gill when he's had one good knock (admittedly, was a herculine effort despite falling short of the century.) Green has also had moments vs India last summer and isn't nearly as experienced as Gill or pope.

I'm mostly annoyed with Green and Carey. Had they gotten out going for quick runs before the second new ball I would have understood but getting out as they did probably is the difference between getting near 300 and not
