Why do England play so bad in Australia? The good folks on 5 Live are repeatedly describing England's performance today as 'disappointing'. One can only presume that they have somehow missed the last two tests, , indeed, the last two Ashes series in Australia. 50 ao would have been disappointing. 185 is surely what any sane person would have predicted from this shower. Probably above par in conditions where the opposing captain saw fit to insert them.
It's nuts because there's clearly oodles of cricketing talent in the English system, just in terms of raw hand-eye coordination with the bat, or they wouldn't be producing so many quality LO batsmen, and there's certainly no shortage of resources. Just a totally bankrupt system in terms of producing Test batsmenThis feels like England of the mid 90s
Bcos Australia are ruthless and pound most visiting teams. Why do England play so bad in Australia?
They play better literally everywhere else

A morally bankrupt people tbhJust a totally bankrupt system in terms of producing Test batsmen
Most, not allLike India the last 2 times?
Or South Africa?
I mean, at some level those blokes just aren't that talented. Honest domestic journeymen who probably don't quite have the intangibles for Tests. It's those who probably do have those raw intangibles in terms of batting talent - Buttler, Bairstow etc - whose counterparts in other countries have eventually "made it" in Tests that are the confusion to me. No Test side ought to be building their batting orders around the likes of Harris or Burns.Tell you what’s a worry
There’s been a few comments about the training methods of the English batsmen today & it’s some of the same **** they’re doing here
Social Jr has been a member of a few elite junior squads and I have seen that one legged thing before
Made no sense then
Makes no sense now
Look at the techniques of Harris, Burns & Hameed
Bobby Simpson would take one look at those guys & chuck them into the dustbin
If anything, batting one legged is going to make you a worse batsman because it will train your brain to move your bat to the ball instead of moving your body into the correct position. Footwork is 90% of good test batsmanship.Tell you what’s a worry

Am I the only one who finds this sorts of state-based partisanship incredibly tedious? It's driven half this country completely mad in more serious matters and been utterly, utterly miserable to have to wade through over the last two years.Well that was a good day of test cricket. At least from a partisan perspective. About the only thing which would have made it better is if Boland didn't get a wicket and Harris had have been dismissed.
It's not state based anything. I really think it's wrong to drop a bloke after one test who did nothing wrong for a guy who isn't actually better than him. They should have stuck with Neser instead of going for the 32yo debutante who offers nothing greater.Am I the only one who finds this sorts of state-based partisanship incredibly tedious? I mean, didn't Cummins say yesterday that neither Neser nor Jhye were fully fit...?It's not state based anything.
