3rd Test at Melbourne - December 26 - 30

How funny seeing Harris pump for Boland. I hope they pick Boland in place of Harris because you can only have 1 Victorian. He'll score more runs and bowling is a bonus.

Boland is genuinely good at blocking the **** out of it, been nightwatchman for Victoria plenty of times in the last few seasons

I got really annoyed by Kimber's writing at cricinfo after a while but his videos are genuinely very interesting.
Yeah they're awesome. He tries too hard to be funky as a writer but he comes across much better on comms and on video.

Whatever it takes!!!

His style works better for video voice overs with graphics. Writing is not always a home run with everyone even though I personally enjoy it. But I guess I am used to reading it how he would say it.

“I bowled too short in the first innings at Adelaide. We should have bowled a touch fuller. That was an oversight from the players on the field but also from the coaches who could have had an input too, which was frustrating.” The inclusion of the coaches appeared somewhat pointed from a bowler with 131 caps and 514 Test wickets. Root countered by stating that such decisions ultimately fall back on the players and himself as the on-field leader. Root said: “I think the relationship [between players and coaches] has been really good. I think we got it wrong on the field. It’s easy to look back and say: ‘Go and try to bowl that little bit fuller’.
the numbers are not wrong. the above was what the miserable bastard said after the 2017 adelaide test

now here's an excerpt from his column after the 2021 adelaide test:

“From a bowlers’ point of view you want to be hitting the right lengths all the time,” Anderson wrote in his Telegraph column. “We did our best on the first two days to do that. I thought Australia left well and maybe we could have gone a touch fuller at times but we still created quite a few chances that were not taken. “We have to be better at assessing it during a game. We can’t just go after the game, ‘We should have bowled fuller’. If we are bowling too short, at lunch we need information back saying we need to push our lengths up. We have to be a bit more proactive at that too as a whole group.”
and people say ashwin sucks outside home conditions. in the last year or so, he's gotten reverse swept by pant, let india go 2-1 up in a home test series and has copy pasted his words for an article from 4 years ago

time to retire.

and not play against us in the 5th test next year

Scott Boland test cricketer, I can't believe we're here.

If he doesn't take at least 19 wickets at the MCG, what was it all for?

He was in the test squad before wasn't he? A number of years ago after he took a Shield 7-for. That then lead to the ghastly experiment that was his ODI career.

Richardson, playing in first Test in nearly three years as a replacement for Cummins in Adelaide, showcased the depth of Australia’s bowling stocks by breaking England’s final-day resistance with his maiden five-wicket haul and setting the series ledger at 2-0.

Having sent down nearly 40 overs in the pink-ball Test, the skiddy right-armer appeared to dispel doubts over his own fitness by troubling the likes of Steve Smith and Marcus Harris in an impressive swing-bowling spell at training on Friday.
But some people on twitter suggest he bowled a shorter spell

Which one is it ****

Tbf, Neser didn't really do anything wrong on his debut but Boland is a much better fit for this wicket.

Against a world class batting lineup I'd have reservations, but he's facing the equivalent of a Scunthorpe 3rd XI of batting skill.

Yeah but Neser is out anyway isn't it for Cummins. Boland is replacing Richardson and unless Richardson isn't hundred percent, it's crazy. Most of the reports I've read so far reckons he is fully fit and bowled a sharp spell yesterday

Rotation is back on the menu Gob, and why not? This is the perfect series to hand out free debuts unless you're a prospective Australian opening bat who doesn't have the potential of Marcus Harris.

Richardson had his moment, Neser had his moment and I for one welcome Scott Boland having his moment.

On that note, it really doesn't make sense why Starc isn't being rested given the bloke almost tore his side trying to slog sweep in the last test.

Well this is seriously grim news. Seems like the last test of the last Ashes over there all over again, Langer and co trying to get too clever and shooting themselves in the foot in the process. This horses for courses stuff doesn't hold any weight for me, should always pick the best bowlers available and Boland simply isn't that

Helps stop the Vics whining for a little while though so I guess that is a good thing
