Needs to be commented on just how bad Buttler's footwork was for that chance. His legs didn't move at all, and no need to go one handed at that. The guy isn't a test keeper's arsehole.
Funny that this comment comes one over after him pulling off a blinder.

What are the odds on Marnus being bowled leaving?

And is it just me, or does Buttler come up before the ball and end up flat-footed? His dives look more like flat-footed blocks.

He's got great hand-eye and he's athletic, so he'll pull off blinders every now and then. He'll also drop plenty of sitters which will hurt his team more on-balance imo. Maybe he's one of England's top 5 batsmen, in which case (given the absolute state of England's top order batting resources) play him as a specialist and get a competent keeper in behind the stumps.

The argument to keeping it doesn't make any sense unless you want to spare the umpire's blushes.

Its either hitting the wickets or not.
The technology isn't 100% accurate and neither are the umpires, we have umpires call because of this uncertainty, it's a safety net.

Scrap umpires call on impact, but keep it on wickets. Still wouldn’t want to see an lbw overturned for something shaving leg stump, just doesn’t look right.

Hitting or not we can easily eliminate Umpire's call, yes. What about where it pitches and impact? There will always be some ambiguity here

Umpire's call on impact exists because there's a bit of uncertainty with both the ball and pad often moving and pads being compressible so the exact impact moment isn't all that clear. It's okay IMO.
