International Captain
Let's see, India lost chasing 270 odd against Pakistan twice in 99. They nearly lost chasing 150 odd against Australia in 2001. They collapsed in 2005 next year against Pakistan in the 4th innings for 214. So yeah, I think an all-time great bowling lineup could bowl them in the fourth innings.
Pakistan let Irfan Pathan take a hat-trick against them so they will get bowled out for 25 by the currently immeasurably superior Indian pace attack.

Teams under and over perform relative to their level all the time, it's stupid to look at specific performances of a different team and then conclude whether a different team would have done better or worse in that specific instance. The only actual argument to be made is to look at the overall home record where the current Indian team has done better than anything we put out in history.

Whatever it takes!!!
Lol.. In the 2004 series and straight after, Ganguly was removed from the team, Laxman took another year to find his form, Sachin was at his lowest with the tennis elbow and Dravid was laid low by all the off field issues with the captaincy. Harbhajan was past his purple patch. Sehwag was the only one who was in form and we had ****ing Yuvraj Singh opening for us, but batsmen were at their peak according to statshakerz. Sure, whatever lies help you sleep at night, I guess.

Also, when TJB is the one agreeing with u in CC, its usually clear how poor those posts are.

Yeah, that Aus side would be the most difficult opponent for India from history.

McGrath, Gillespie great in India. Warne would be much better against this India lineup. Their batting was better than the batting now. Maybe Ponting would find some good form given Harbhy's absence.

India are a much better bowling unit now and a much worse batting unit.

Would be tasty.

I honestly think the RSA sides of the noughties were always the most difficult for us. Steyn blew away our best batting line ups on patta wickets. I think they would be far more of a challenge as they had a line up full of good players of spin AND good fast bowlers for our conditions. Australia, not so much.

Steyn was amazing in India but this isn't an accurate claim at all. The two big 5fers Steyn got in India, one was a day 1 greentop at Ahmedabad and the other at Nagpur Laxman and Dravid were missing. He still got Sachin and sehwag in that game tbf but just saying.

I mean, how does that make it not a "patta" wicket? I think he has had good spells, not just 5fers, in our pattas. I agree the one spell was on a greentop though.

Do all pacers who did well in subcontinent seemingly get shown up like this? May be statsguru averages are not worth anything.

Hence Ashwin is an ATG bowler
