Gill is out. Axar is out. Shaw would suck in SA. Sarfaraz or Easwaran could be tried maybe but Vihari just scored 3 50s on the A tour as well.

What it basically means is we may not really play 5 bowlers anymore. I am not sure if Virat or Dravid will be willing to gamble with Ash as a #7. It might work though, coz in RSA whenever India tours, even 300 is like 500. So a 30 is as good as a 50 and he is usually good for a couple of 30s at least in a tour.

I dont rate Shami outside of India or maybe SC + Windies at all. But if at all he is useful anywhere in SENA, it is in RSA. So I would play him. I am also not sure of playing Shardul as the 3rd seamer. Think we will see the same side that played against England in the Oval test, but maybe Shreyas for Rahane, and Ash for Jaddu and Shami for Umesh.

Kick Ishant out in first place & pick Prasidh Krishna. No need of Jayant Yadav.. Picked Kartik Tyagi or Avesh Khan.

Ishan Kishan for Rahane & as a back up Wk batsman. He is absolutely smashing it in A series. Looking most composed out there & with Jaddu out we needed a left hander in lower middle order. SA have fast scoring grounds & we need stroke players.

Love the side. Would have Iyer ahead of Mayank but otherwise excellent composition.

Ishant doesn't deserve such treatment though. Has been world class for a while and a terrific squad member to have if someone breaks down. Can be a leader in a way Prasidh can't.
