Yeah obviously 45 to 50 bracket. When you look back at McGrath's playing days, especially 00s, there were more batsmen averaging over 50 than 45 to 50. Obviously we are talking about the average at the end of their careers not necessarily their averages in the period they faced McGrath. Don't know how to find that

Its the avg of wickets taken in a match, without considering runs conceded to other batsmen. So, its a relevant stat.

Zaheer Khan was a good bowler for two years. The rest of the time he was, frankly, Chaminda Vaas level mediocre. In fact, probably even worse.

He'd have played about 18 months worth of Shield matches had he been Australian, otherwise he wouldn't have got out of first grade. He was a trier, but let's be honest his inclusion in this discussion against the other bowlers in this thread is an embarrassment, much like about 80% of his career.

Of course, being that ordinary means he still takes the new rock in an AT Indian XI, but that's an indictment on Indian cricket, not a salute to his ability.

As I said previously he was a slower, left arm, more mediocre and uglier version of Brett Lee. Only with a less accomplished career than even that spud.

That demonic inswinging yorker was a result of reliance on reverse swing on dead pitches. Literally every Wasim compilation on Youtube has like 4 catches dropped in a spell. If you think that didn't impact his stats especially against the top order you've either never watched a game of cricket or you're working backwards from a pre-conceived notion.

Remember Wasim's facial expressions when someone bowled **** when he was skipper? ****ing gold.

I remember in an ODI out here, Saqlain was bowling at the end of the innings and Wasim goes up to him, they set an offside field with sweepers out and no one deep on the leg side beyond straight mid wicket cos the plan was obviously bowl it full, quick and wide of off.

Naturally Saqlain, whether due to poor bowling or - like so many of his team mates - because he was performing via his wallet, floated up a couple of leg stump half volleys which went over square leg for successive fours.

The jaw-drop look on Wasim's face was priceless.
