I think Saha is our best keeper, but how much more does he offer compared to a Ishan Kishan or even Samson? With the gloves, Saha is slightly ahead of them, but he is way behind with the bat. In Pant's absence, we must look at other options.

Yeah, I can totally see the Anderson comparisons for Southee. This is not a diss on Anderson, anyone who has seen my posts knows I rate Anderson very high, but Southee currently is almost just as good, esp. in the SC conditions.

That three quarter ball is such a good one too, coz you always get the angled bat defense from SC batsmen and it is pretty productive as it helps you negate traditional and even reverse swing but off that length, it is a bit tougher to control. It also helps that these conditions are as good as it gets for swing bowling in India and both KJ and Southee have been excellent.

Also love Shreyas' attitude towards batting. Can see why Punter loves him. Lots of Punter in his attitude towards batting and quite a lot of KP too. Hopefully he works hard to make his batting work in SENA coz he is too good a talent to miss out.

I felt yesterday that 400+ was what India should aim for, so anything less they wont feel they are as ahead as they could have been. NZ probably wanted India out for less than 300 once they got them 140/4 or whatever it was. Felt 300-400 would be somewhat even stevens, scales tilting towards India the closer they get to 400. Probably stick with the same but make it 350 instead of 400 given how the pitch has played.

Bit of ott commentary regarding how Southee has overcome the most unhelpful conditions for bowling of all time. Pitch is decent for batting but its swung plenty today. You'd expect any half decent bowler to pick up wickets when the batsmen are either hacks who swing wildly at anything outside off or washed 37 year olds or just tailenders who cant hold the right end of the stick.

Indian commentary is always pretty OTT and exaggerated. The good thing is they tend to do the same for the opposition too.

I foresee great fortune on this pitch for the Kiwi batsmen.

Just end this match already.

If KW and NZ think tank are smart, they will get KJ to bowl from the end where it is keeping low and be an actual threat. It maybe why Southee is bowling another over now. The spinner can bowl at the other end.

Same when India bowl. Gotta get Ishant and especially Umesh from that end.

Under 350 would be a great result.
Still - it's not a typical Indian day 1/2 pitch. It already looks to be keeping low- but there is something there for the fast bowlers as well.
