One can only hope the perfectly decent NZ U19 captain Jesse Taskoff doesn't become the Mattie Thomas of this saga, when all is said and done.

.
Yes, hope not.
Tashkoff seems good, had a good U19WC tournament, and moving forward there is spin bowling gap at Wellington. So, probably not.

I wonder if Calvin Harrison will start looking to have two live tickets to the top, as his career progresses (Notts and Wellington, England and NZ).

I think an impartial @Prince EWS verdict might say that the first guy's bowling action could soon make the grade, and the second guy will really have to grind like a Woodcock, make some batting contributions for his whole Super Smash career.

Yeah the biggest difference is in their pivots. Look where they start their follow-throughs - the first one (Pringle?) will be able to put a lot more work on the ball like that.

Nice two deliveries from Pringle. Though I would prefer young NZ spinners have a bit less Daniel Vettori and a bit more Ajaz Patel for those 5th-day pitches and overseas tours.

After briefly looking like they might things around after their previous loss to Canterbury, Wellington are getting spanked again.
Tbf this XI is even less experienced than the previous one and looks like their one experienced bowler (Newton, replacing McPeake) got injured as didn't bowl the second innings.

On another note, disappointing to see McConchie's batting enter proper spud territory.

Greenwood's 3 boundaries of this innings (so far) sure are ones for the highlights reel ... lol.

NZC update on ND linked below, also news that Seth Rance is back from injury.

CD Twitter feed has a photo of the lunch scorebook, Cooper 47*, Rance 9-4-7-0.

Sounds like Cooper moved flat purposely so that he could get an exemption to move through the Auckland border

Wow Bevan Small, thought he had given the game up.

Yowza that is an ugly ugly scorecard for Wellington. With Conway unlikely to take a part they’re looking down the barrel of another wooden spoon season.

Yes this fragility has been hinted at in Wellington A's batting scorecards for a few years, the odd Vishvaka 170 notwithstanding. Unfortunately he's another who could be of much the same ilk. Raised to shuffle forward and give it a very hard, Guptill-esque nudge through the line, in a trusty indoor setting.

I guess Wellington's dissenting voice certainly won't be getting rid of the Dookaburra, while the KJs and Matt Henrys are on the scene to relish it, and Stead etc. would want the Shield to be replicating NZ home Test conditions as much as possible.

Two of the first three wickets to fall have been Pringle's. They batted him down at 9 yesterday and he made 5. Popli 91 retired, CdG 64, Hampton 62*, Cooper 54, Raval 13, Carter 5.

Haha, Wiggins' agricultural attempt to pull one off the top of off and getting bowled. Such a Hawke's Bay kid's shot.

Otago really gets so much more of a kick out of their Shield wins than everyone else. Everyone thinks that if domestic four-dayers were to ever be concentrated into four strong teams, perhaps as the eventual and appropriate response to diminishing youth interest, then Otago would just have to go. But it actually turns out, it could be the 2030 Wellington and 2030 Auckland that stays at home, practicing their switch hits and slower balls.

Ha yeah, that is one of the most woeful shots you'll see for a while.

Otago sure do have a lot of heart. Missing their best bowler and end up dominating what is - on paper - a much stronger CD side. #punchabovetheirweight
