*Official* Yorkshire CCC racism crisis thread

Excuse me, but if - as everyone now suspects - Root is indeed a racist because he's from Yorkshire and they all are up there - then Warner will be two from two in calling them out, given it turns out he was right all along about de Kock.
ah he who hunts monsters must be careful not to become a monster himself

I know that most of the Root comments here are in jest, but he strikes me as one of the least likely players to make racist comments or "jokes". (Maybe that's why he's been singled out here for the lolz.)

For a top player he's very low on ego and bravado, and he seems considered and aware when talking about issues of discrimination in interviews (i.e. he comes across as sincere and able to talk in his own words, not like he's reciting lines from a PR script like some do). There was also the time a few years back where he straight away called Shannon Gabriel(?) out on the pitch for making a homophobic comment.

He's the national captain and the senior player at the club. As if he wouldn't have a massive say in how the culture of the place has developed. An indictment on him tbh. He should be removed of the England captaincy and dropped from the Ashes tour.
Root may or may not have said things or been privy to this stuff, we can't know unless you were there, but it's certainly possible given the seemingly rotten culture around the club in these years that seemed to allow this racism to go on unchallenged.

However I don't so how you can really blame Root for the culture around the club. He was yet to debut for Yorkshire when the alleged Vaughan comments were made about Rafiq and Asians. Ever since Root was 22 or so he's been playing for England constantly more or less. He is rarely back at Yorkshire.

Gale is the thing that has annoyed me for years with Yorkshire. His whole playing career was marred by small controversies regarding race. He wasn't a particularly great player. And yet he walks straight into being head coach at the age of 33. Hasn't done particularly well since, has come under pressure from the supporters and yet has managed to get his job through the last 5 years. I guess it makes more sense if you think the whole system is corrupted and it's jobs for the boys.

If Gales manages to keep his job through all this it's really bad. He's been the captain and then head coach through most of these years.

Has anything else gale has said been made public? No doubt he's a w****** but you can't punish someone for saying the Y word 11 years ago. This word was still being used by pundits on sky and talksport on live TV 10 years ago lol

It's the entire system that is rotten. Fortunately or unfortunately some players/officials at the club will bear the brunt until the core investigation is done and the overall cultural system is reshaped (which is going to take time anyway). Till then few more might bear the brunt.

They can't go about punishing everyone coz they will soon realise there are too many to punish and the focus should be on moving forward with new stringent policies.

And I am sure this problem is not just limited to YCCC.

Never mind. Found it. Another word I didn’t realise was offensive. Is it only so because of Tottenham?

The mods have the most to answer for.

The mods banned many for telling the late poster George Lincoln Watson Rockwell to **** off and take a hike. Men like sledger were sacrificed in protection of watson.

Yet bans valued member Shri, a member of our posters of subcontinental descent for what crime? Wanting to stay with his friends through the limited means available to him. That was his crime.

Wanting friends vs wanting a White Australia. Of course the mods only endorsed one of these.

It is kinda an interesting point, I don't really know why, there are plenty that work at my place, most are Indian, a couple of Bangladeshi, no Pakistani's, have to say I can't be sure on that as there are a lot of employees, and I don't ask them all there nationality, maybe in the past there was a high percentage of Pakistani's that came over?
Most of Glasgow's South Asian community have their origins in Pakistan (specifically the Punjab region).
