He would have been the first for South Africa, so it's an unprecedented situation. But yeah, I don't really understand why they couldn't make it work.

No real strike rotation from Warner and finch in those first 3 overs. There ability to take 1's and turn 1's into 2's is what makes them so good together.

Good to see that langer learnt absolutely nothing from the last WC where we played both smith and khawaja and kept on shuffling them both around the 3 and 4 position to lackluster results, except this time where also ****ing with a player who's a beast at #4 and is in the form of their life to accommodate it. Maxy is a player who you need to give a clear role too, I genuinely thought langer had figured this out with the maxi at #7 in odi's success but clearly not.
