Imran isn't in same ballpark as McGrath as bowler.
This is like saying Dravid is in sameball park as Lara as batsman.
What do you define as same ballpark?

Imran has been a great matchwinning bowler all through his career. Performed well pretty much everywhere. Why isn't he in the same ballpark?

McGrath is in the conversation as to who is the best ever. He is also inarguably a top 3 bowler of all time.

Is Imran is that ballpark?

Bumrah has won more matches outside Asia than Imran . Do you consider Bumrah in same ballpark as Imran Khan?

Bumrah will be in the same ballpark when he has a larger body of work behind him and he does well wherever he plays. Why wouldn't he?

So, why isn't Imran in the same ballpark?

Check overseas average of McGrath and Imran. There is atleast 15% difference

You don't like Ponting either?

There was legitimately a time when Lara and Tendulkar were also still playing and I was sure Ponting would go down as the best of all three of them.
Yes, Imran to McGrath as Ponting to Lara is a fair comparison. They are all ATGs in their disciplines, but generally both McGrath and Lara will be rated ahead of Imran and Ponting by a small but fair margin.

However, if Ponting had Kallis-level bowling stats to add to his ATG batting, there is no doubt that if there was one place in the batting lineup, Ponting would take that place given his value to the side.

Overall Ponting and Imran not among the very best list of their primary skills. Very close to it though.

McGrath is arguably GOAT bowler. (Similarly Lara is arguably GOAT batsman after Don)

Dravid is entry level ATG.

Or, or just..you actually want the best possible bowlers to bowl them out. If you're relying on the no. 11 , you have bigger issues.
Yeah it's really not that hard, not sure what people have such a hard time understanding about it.

Batting ability of no. 10/11 decide Test matches, like never. Unless you genuinely think 2 options are virtually absolutely equal as bowlers then picking one because they are better at batting is dumb. A bowler makes way more difference taking a big wicket than scoring an extra 15 runs in an innings that might be relevant once every 10 games
