When not even Jose is trying to sign Matic you know he's done.
Ever since we’ve had him he’s pulled off this trick of evading criticism by being nowhere near where he’s meant to be. Fred fouls people and takes heavy touches and everyone notices that he’s useless. When Matic plays we mostly just have a massive sea of space in front of the back four.

Tactically it’s only getting worse. Matic somehow made me miss Fred.
Fans hate when Fred plays but he usually can cover for guys like Pogba who can’t be bothered. Fred has 1st touch and passing issues but we are badly exposed without him.

**** how did we lose that game.
Chelsea have cranked out quite a few under the radar poor performances in wins. I’m less convinced about them than I was at the start of the season, even though they’ve had good results.

As a Chelsea fan tend to agree - v Villa, first half v Spurs, v Man City, v Brentford and both games in the UCL we've been at best meh. I guess the positive is we are not at our best and still top of the league. Just got to hope we can reach our best sooner than later - hopefully upcoming games can see attacking players return to form.

Look Steve Bruce must be a lovely dinner companion, top bloke and all that, but Martyn Dean was just embarrasing today, the excuses flying all over the place, terrible pressure he'd been put on for weeks, yeah, like the results had been better before, not helped that Rafa was liked who Martyn told us lost today BTW. Much better Spurs squad who are just midtable themselves, well 5th mid-table-ish I suppose.

kept them up with a limited budget, myth they had a middle of the division budget, just with a club that shouldn't have that type of budget.

Sheesh, when the media pundits want to wrap themselves around "one of their Own" it becomes sickening. I await Danny Murphy's view with bated breath...

He’s gone anyway as soon as they can find a big name mug to take over.

More importantly we’re away to Sheffield Wednesday in the first round of the Cup.

It was Martin tyler as well, I am having a 'mare today.

TBh not sure it's a mug job, could be pretty decent. Mind you I still think buce's job is rather brilliant, particularly as he's going to pick up millions for doing a bad-to-average job.

we are off to tyke-land too, can't say I'm enamoured with the draw.

The worry for you has gotta be that after the United game in a week or so we'll have played Tottenham, Leicester, Liverpool, United and Chelsea away from home and we're only 2 (maybe 5) off the top.

I wouldn't say its a massive worry. We have played Spurs, Liverpool, Arsenal (harder for us as London derby and bit of a bogey side of late) away. We have played you albeit a home. Brentford on current form a tough game too.

Of course over the course of the season you'll be up there if not leading but we've had a pretty tough start ourselves and I'd have taken this position at the start of the season as thought in pre-season there were plenty of opportunities for early dropped points. The bigger worry would be performances catching up with us if attackers don't rediscover last seasons form. For all the profligacy of last season we created plenty of chances, it feels like we've been clinical but a bit unconvincing this season.

At this stage if we were 1-0 down v a Brighton or West Ham with 20mins remaining, I'd be less confident about us turning it around compared to you or especially Liverpool. Although, we do seem a lot better placed when it comes to seeing out leads.

Yeah usually when a team plays badly for the first couple of months while getting results, the results catch up with the performances rather than the other way round. Grinding out wins in March and April is great but it’s not a good thing if it’s happening in September.

FSG will never hire him. They're just not into that kind of appointment.

I think he'd take the Newcastle job. They could do worse.

I think taking the Newcastle job at this moment in time, with a dreadful squad that can't be touched until January is a poisoned chalice.

Would be amazed if Gerrard took it.

QPR are attempting to entice back fans who haven’t attended since the pandemic started by having one socially distancing stand operating at 30% capacity with a requirement to wear masks. I suppose it’s not a bad idea if your average crowds are far enough below capacity to do it.
