Establishing the best decade for cricket: Finding the ATG XI from 12 decades of test cricket - then having a KO tourney to decide the best

I definitely admire what Watling achieved in his career with limited ability but think it as this you are facing the 90s team in the 4th innings chasing 270 to win with Wasim coming around the wicket starting to tail it away and hero Shane Warne ripping them from the rough. You are 4 for 65 after Virat nicking one to the 2nd slip well held by Brian Lara..who do you rather want to see walking in to bat? I know who I want (ofcourse if Watling plays Stokes would bat at 6 but you get the point)

And I know I'm contradicting myself after throwing a tantrum when people were going for Flower over Healy so I have to reiterate that DeVilliers was good enough to keep.

Given Watling's propensity for making crisis runs, I'd hate to see him walking in at 4/65 if I were the opposition. A match saving double century partnership is coming.

It would be wrong to pick a decent keeper even if there was one for this decade, so I’m going for Buttler for having the cheek to turn up, then Broad for a laugh. :newyear:

Why would Watling bat below Stokes? You'd pick the better defensive batsman at 6 and the dasher at 7. I think Shakib will probably get the nod over Stokes anyway.

Cummins

Think ABdV should be #6. Stokes and Shakib would both be a downgrade. Williamson and Smith can shoulder fifth bowler responsibilities.
