All that needs to happen is to run it Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and the problems are solved. That way the players are in (currently) zero covid jurisdictions first before travelling back to plague central. And Aus will be 3-0 up in about 11 days' play, so it'll make for a nice festive season.

Ah yeah, forgot about the SA tour at the end of last summer. No one* really gaf about Bangladesh I suppose.

They've done a stack of ODI and T20 tours though, presumably they had bubble/ quarantine requirements for those as well. It isn't as though they've been hermits.

At the end of the day, this isn't a matter of safety or mental health issues for the players, it's purely about convenience and them wanting to get out and about in between being paid six figures to play a game they love following a three month break at home. Tough gig.

Are you talking about all the Aus players avoiding the last 2 years worth of tours but still playing IPL?

Yeah they're all as bad as each other. Now of course whinging your way out of an Ashes series is obviously a lot worse than a few meaningless T20 tours of West Indies or Bangladesh but still it's not like Aus players haven't done more or less the same thing.

An Ashes series is also a lot longer and is happening directly on the back of a T20 WC for some of them. Apples and oranges

Yeah having the Perth Test first could make sense. They have to do the 14-day quarantine into the country once anyway so they might as well do that in Perth where they'd be forced to do it again otherwise. If they make the Sydney Test last, King Dom probably won't even make them enjoy bubble life by then.

I imagine doing WA first would likely only increase the problems of the families being around them for quarantine and all that. WA didn't play ball at all on that front with the AFL.

I would say its pretty likely that this is postponed/cancelled. Would love NZ to get over there in January before our ODI series and play a couple of tests.
