Legendary player, but that falls afoul of the rules by my reckoning. Distinguishing by country is not allowed, neither is multiple parameters (see the OP). I also think 'first' at the start of a 'record' makes the record not a record, but that's debatable.

Not sure about the latter point - first person to score a century etc as examples. The distinguishing by multiple parameters is debatable although I think it'd be harsh to disallow this on that basis given Barry Richards (highest number of sixes in last innings who scored a century) was allowed. (Although maybe I'm biased having wanted Barry Richards myself lol)

It is a country record though so perhaps falls foul on that basis - sorry to pour more doom and gloom on you in this draft @honestbharani but I think the Shakib pick may be ineligible on the basis of the 'record'. It can be most runs at number 10 or most runs in Zimbabwe but not both. Like most runs from number 10 in Zimbabwe which won't be allowed.

When he achieved that he became the only left handed opener to carry his bat in South Africa thus, at the time, holding a unique record. I'll leave it to @CricAddict for a final ruling.

Yes, Trevor Goddard should be fine since we need not be too strict on the one filter ruling unless it becomes totally unreasonable. Otherwise, it becomes very difficult to pick players.

But Shakib has to be re-picked since that is also not a new record set by him. Very sorry @honestbharani . But I am sure there must be some ground in Bangladesh where he has the highest runs or wickets. Can you check and post in a new record?

Yes, new record set in a country at international level is perfectly fine.

On 2nd quote I don't disagree that its 2 filters my point was more that I'd argue it was just as much 2 filters as records that have been accepted.

Example I gave re centuries probably a bad one tbf but I think I had Boycott as first player to get 99* for instance. Although suspect we'll have more discussions like this as we find more obscure and debatable records in last rounds.

I think there is a bigger debate over his other 'record' actually - it probably doesn't break a rule just not sure I'd necessarily see it as a record personally but we are all close to scraping the barrel of records potentially

Actually me too. Every person will be born in a different place and so there is potential for it to be misused. But we can hand this one to HB since there already has been debates on the player and I don't want to stress HB further

In order to speed up what may become a logjam of protests/disputes, I'll help hb out by providing a record for Shakib. He has scored the most Test runs at Shere Bangla National Stadium (1313 and still going).
