Not really. In fact, not at all.Did he actually say that Moeen is better than Laker? Genuine question as I'm not watching the match on Sky. If not, trying to have a discussion beyond players' career figures isn't the worst thing given different pitches, quality of opposition and approaches to batting.
On a vaguely related note, I only just read that Laker died aged 64; very young, and I always thought he was older listening to his commentary on the telly throughout my formative years.
He basically said one can't compare across eras and Laker sent down over after over of maidens, whereas Mo is usually called on to bowl short spells and takes his wickets in clumps.
Which, I suppose is a positive spin (ha) on "goes wicketless for long spells and bleeds runs when the force isn't with him".
