Probably about as good of a day as possible for India. If this was Day 2 they'd be well ahead. Hell even if these two can put on another 100 it's squeaky bum areas.

Yeah pant & Jadeja still to come, if these two can stay around a bit longer could see England looking at a 4th test 2019 India vs aus esque partnership From pant and jaddu.

First session crucial here because England could put it to bed or India can really start applying pressure.

It's one of those where fans of the batting side just start to get that snippet of hope and then end up being all out for 320.
Indeed, this could be as good as over by 11:30am or alternatively could have a game on our hands by 3ish. Just pressure on Kohli and Pujara to keep going and not edge off early. Watching the highlights, it is strange to see how many leg side balls England gave to Pujara. This might be a sensible plan to him generally but he's just looked so at odds with the fifth and sixth stump channel that I don't know why you'd try anything different.

Apparently it’s nice and sunny at Headingley, this makes the new ball even more crucial if we can survive that then anything can happen but it won’t be easy! First 15-20 overs are crucial

If anything runs from Pujara and Kohli are what you want, especially in the style Pujara's doing it in.

yea you want these guys back because your reserves who i have seen are not better

also now that ishant can barely bowl, are you guys gonna calm down on the shami hate?

There's no Shami hate? People were just saying if we were to drop a quick based on the last game it would still be him.

Obviously if I knew Ishant was going to bowl like a drain then I'd drop him instead but that's irrelevant because nobody saw it coming.

‘Our out of form world-class batsmen scoring runs is bad actually’ is a take.
pujara putting away bad balls makes him a different beast

he was a test batsman who averaged over 50 and scored at a strike rate of 40-50 at his best

that is different than a guy averaging 20 over long periods of time with a freakish knock of 50 odd striking at 20-30 to keep his spot

this version of pujara can play in the xi as long as he wants. its the other version that no one wants

Saving this game is nearly impossible but I will be happy if can make 400 here and Pujara goes on to make a big hundred.

Shami's been on the chopping block with you guys since before and probs during the WTC final. Could be wrong ofc but something I'd picked up.

I thought Ishant was a bit meh last test too tbh, and Shami's been your most consistently frightening to the outside edge bowler all tour.

Shami leaked runs in the first innings last game, Ishant wasn’t great at the start but did well progressively and definitely bowled better than Shami in the second innings. Overall he definitely wasn’t ‘meh’.

Also Shami was on the chopping block because most of us wanted 3 quicks and we had to choose between Shami/Siraj. People don’t think he’s a bad bowler.

If you have to fault the Indian fans for something it’s for not believing in Bumrah enough. The talk about dropping Kohli was also very very premature imo. Dropping Rahane/Pujara was fair. The former isn’t out of the woods yet anyways.
