97 was great until Australia showed up

the oval was better than edgbaston tho when tuffers ran through them.
No, sorry mate but Edgbaston was glorious. Not least because it was the first live test we'd won against them in over 10 years, whereas The Oval was a dead rubber.

I was trying to remember when was the last time both openers reached 50. it probably happened once or maybe twice with Burns and Sibley, but I honestly don't remember them managing it.
Yeah Burns and Sibley did it against the West Indies last year in what was probably Sibley's best series. Before that was Cook and Hameed in the last 120+ for England in India.

Looking, I noticed that both openers getting fifties tends to happen for us in the 2nd and 3rd innings. The last time both England openers made half centuries on the first morning of a test was way back in 2009.

I must say this is a much more pleasing result that I could possibly have expected. Both teams still stupidly conservative in their selections - where's Ashwin and how much more does Curran need to do to get dropped?

Also the **** who edits the ECB highlights needs a good bashing. Apparently Pujara's dismissal is not important enough to show at all but a single leg glance from Kohli needs slow-mo replays from four different angles, taking up the best part a minute.

I think their is a little to much focus on Ashwin regarding his batting. He should have played today but with those 3 mugs to follow I am still doubtful India would have got past 100 even with him at 8.

The dismissals from the supposed proper batsman were for most part rotton.

Its a mess for India as the problems are three out of form senior batsman and Pant maybe batting to high in England along with a rotton lower order.

These are not issues that will resolve overnight sadly.

They're comically bad. They love showing the full review process every ****ing time for some reason. But barely show any play other than every 10th boundary.

Sky's are better but probably only available in the UK?

Also if my memory serves me right you just won the ODIs 3-0 with both Holliaoke brothers doing well and there was a feeling of optimism for England in the ashes

I did 4 days of that game. Was my favourite test win ever I think as it was so unexpected and so dominant. The atmosphere when Gough got Blewett twice in 2 balls was unreal.

Nassers finest innings by a mile and mad to see how Thorpe physically deteriorated at the end of his innings and a man getting out was never so obvious as his dismissal.

Haven't even mentioned Tubbys ton in the 2nd innings which given the pressure of the time was an amazing knock. Great test match.

3-1 again? Looks very likely
It's actually really tough to predict because both batting line ups are so capable of lolapses. It could feasibly end up 3-1 to either side or 2-2. Barring weather, can't see there being another draw as neither team seems really capable of batting sufficient time for that to happen atm. But the line ups are both so fragile right now that neither side would ever think they're really out of it. Makes for a very entertaining series as a neutral, and a heart stopper for anyone who's invested.

Uh, this seems a fair bit worse than what Robinson did. Old ****ty tweets is one thing, an honest to god "go back where you came from" on a cricket field? Yikes.
Errrrgh wtaf is this? Jesus Christ.

He'll be stood down next match at least, surely. WAC.
