Has scored a 100 in England too. But that was poor batting that shot

Think he had a poor series bar that?

He's quite young and it can take players a while to figure out batting in England but its been a poor series so far for him.

What an embarrassment of a batting line-up.

India need to understand that when Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur and Mohammad Shami out bat the top order, this is a massive problem and means the top-order are batting below domestic standard! Pujara, Rahane and Kohli have been genuinely embarrassing.
I think Pant is a really rare talent but he shouldn’t bat above seven, particularly when the line up is this fragile. His greatest gift is the freedom he plays with, but he’s gonna end up second guessing himself if he’s expected to bat particularly responsibly a lot of the time.
Put him at seven and give him a licence. Like a fat, wicketkeeping Doug Walters.

we can't have 2 bats out of 6 recognized bats in the xi come out and be afraid of the ball

and one who can't buy a run

I don't know where to start with the middle order but the tail is yuck and avoidable. If you really need 4 quicks, barring Hardik who in India can bat #7 and send down some solid seam up?

Bring back my boi Stuart Binny.

Best thing to do imo is trust your 3 best quicks and Jadeja and play the extra batsman at #6

Good return by Overton so far, and he's unlucky not to have taken a wicket.

But I'd bring back Anderson before long, if only for a short spell.

I am genuinely surprised there aren't many sub-par scores with this batting line-up. Middle order has been dross for a while now and on top of that we've been going with a longish tail for quite a while. And to have Shami bat at 8 is taking it too far.
It did put up 36ao not that long ago...

He's the owner of one of the worst innings I've ever seen in my life.

His cut and drive technique will always keep second slip to gully awake in England, NZ and SA. He's just not test standard in these conditions.

Putting up scores of 300 is cause for celebration with our lineup.

Yes. And I was frankly expecting more sub-par scores but openers (surprisingly) and Pant and Jaddu have been carrying this unit for too long now. Cannot get away with a middle order in pathetic form for long.

Yes - he is a special talent. I feel bad to criticise him when Pujara and Rahane are still in the team despite both forgetting how to bat.

Pant isnt going to be playing the kind of innings here that he played in Australia but he's genuinely looked better than the three numpties in the middle order even though his game clearly isnt suited at all for the conditions.

SAD!
