Dropping Ishant would be madness imo. Bring Ashwin back but it has to be for Shami. You cant just retain a bowler because he memed a fifty. He wasnt bad with the ball but hardly good enough to sacrifice one of Ishant/Ashwin.
Yes, I am totally fine for Ashwin ahead of Shami. But have a feeling that the team management thinks that Shami is ahead of Ishant in the pecking order.

Whatever it takes!!!
The best thing about Ishant is that even in conditions where there is nothing for him, he will give us control and long spells. Shami leaks runs irrespective of the pitch and if he is not getting a bag, in this team, he is just luggage.

Ashwin for Shami would be ideal but knowing Kohli it's going to be Vihari for Ishant if the pitch is dry and then

So Ishant seems perfect contender for brand ambassador of Duracell instead of Walsh plus he stays long with the bat as well.

All the match previews I've read seem to be taken Curran's spot in the England XI as secure and that Overton & Mahmood are in a straight shoot out for one spot.

Hope they're wrong and that both get a game as Curran has been a weak link in the attack which his batting isn't enough to make up for.

I just hope we keep bringing the aggression here. Love what I saw on day 5.

I reckon Ashwin will come into the equation for Ishant but it’s a tough call.

Realistically whoever is in our 11 we should be beating England

I think it'd be insanity to drop Ishant; he seemed to gain a yard of pace as the second test went on.

It was his first game back after his latest residence of the physio's table and he seems to be one of those bowlers who looks better for a gallop.

Not quite insanity, considering how good Ashwin is - but certainly risky.
I mean, I'd have both in my XI, but I can see why Virat maybe prefers the slightly stronger batting of Jadeja.

Ashwin is a clearly better test bowler though, especially on current form.

ishant > than every other bowler including ash away from home imo
Off pure numbers, yes. But he didn't look quite himself in the last Test, despite the crucial wickets. I think he'll bowl well but cannot base decisions entirely off retrospective numbers.

I really want India to do well here - it'll make me feel so good to get confirmation that this isn't 2014 (or a rejigged 2018) all over again.

jaddu averages like 50 past few years

promote him to 5, rahane to 3 and drop poojara

rohit
rahul
rahane
kohli
jadeja
pant
ashwin
ishant
shami
bumrah
siraj

we bat down to 10 so it'll be fine
Pant 5, Jadeja 6 is better. The question is what to think of Pujara’s second innings 45, can he kick on from it? I can’t justify dropping a fast bowler considering form. Jadeja’s batting and fielding is too good to drop too, but he’s been ineffective with the ball. Have a suspicion India might be unchanged, got a feeling this might be the strongest XI though. I like this option with Pant 5. I wouldn’t consider picking Vihari , can see he’s been mentioned.

I can't imagine this Indian side will go on to fold like the 2014 one did. Your bowling attack is world class and far too good for England right now. The best England can hope for is to replicate the 2018 model of narrowly edging some low scoring contests on the back of some freak individual performances but I think that's unlikely. Even if England were to get a result at Headingley I'd still back India to take the series - they're simply the better team here.
