Wow, I thought I had that one in the bag when MTO dropped to 129-6. Fabulous partnership between Tigwell (56* off 63) and de Klerk (59* off 57) to bring it home with 7 balls to spare. That makes two 24-skilled bats getting 50s in the match, with Richard Simmonds' promotion to open paying off.

That's two heists in two games now MTO have pulled off in these SODs where I'm playing a Dev side. Last time Shawn Dee memed his way to 81 (149), this time he managed 80 (93). Dee hasn't gone well in my senior side, hopefully these two innings can provide the momentum he needs to secure a stable top-4 slot in my side.

Also is Michael Winton's first club 50 against a human team. Hopefully can get him fairly close to that potential.

Congrats to Michael Winton. Those of us here at Mooo wish him many more fifties and centuries to come.

Good game. I did not expect to wake up to a win on that one. Thanks for the game. You win by one run on this Saturday’s CWC3 game!

Our teams went down 3-1 in Friendly matches yesterday :( A good win against ataraXIa in the morning was followed by two losses for ZCC. Schmaltzberg beat us comprehensively at home, and then our Dev boys were beaten away at Honest Hunks CG by their full senior team. Both ZCC sides had the ratings advantage tho, perhaps just somewhat sub-optimal orders/lack of exp/bit of poor luck. First time we've ever lost to HH, so big win that for HB!

FHK went down to Morpork quite convincingly in a full strength OD game. Batting failed to fire after we won the toss. The pitch had turn but was fundamentally still good for batting. Just needed more runs. Plenty of starts but no one kicked on.

Back to league cricket today. FHK won their T20 game this week, first ever Div 2 T20 win for them, so hope some of that confidence carries forward. ZCC have been in great form but there are no easy games at this level, so hopefully we keep it up. Both teams playing away from home.

Once again the middle and lower middle order of MTOs collapse for no particularly good reason, against the weaker bowlers. Meaning they struggle to post a decent score and the bowling strength becomes irrelevant.

maybe try more defensive orders/lower aggressions?

help to have higher SS/experience guys in the middle too.

Just about my entire batting order is defensive/defiant or steady. And I hardly ever push up the aggression (occasionally for inexperienced guys who have good attack and not much else!). You will notice their is hardly any attacking or slog shots. Kock is the only aggressive batsmen by nature and I tend to play him more defensively. And I don't have a high minimum score. they where well within reach of that.

All my best most experienced guys are in the middle order. Its why I`m continually frustrated that they don't put together consistent partnerships. I do think that experience is a big part of it, but it is still very frustrating in every important match it feels like a badly loaded dice role.

With the impact minimum scores have on batting line ups, the overall better quality of bowling than batting in most teams. It is quite clear that winning the toss and bowling first is a big advantage.

Don’t think there are any demons in the pitch. The batting really dragged this out…mostly consolidating.
A bit slow but nothing silly. My main bats just got out at the wrong time consistently. One of their top 3 are likely to make a quick 50 at least and the rest will doddle it.

Yea there's a lot of reasons why batters get starts and don't carry on. Low stamina, SS, exp. Could even be miscuing aggressive shots when set due to lacking skill.

At lower levels I've found it useful to bat deep and have a few guys who are attack-heavy. They can hit quick 20s/30s to offset the slow stodgy innings, and can put some pressure back on the bowlers/ease the pressure on the batters at the other end.

I usually like to bowl first, but in good batting conditions I prefer to get runs on the board.

As with most other things, once you find a combination that works you'll see a huge difference.

ZCC with 320 on the board as well. One early wicket, but two early dropped catches!

And MTOs get a run out, of all things, to take the first wicket...

Burger bowls beautifully for his opening spells with no luck yet again.
