*Official* Second Test at Lord's - Aug 12-16 2021

A tough one strategically for the bowlers on a flat pitch. Do you bowl tight and wait for the inevitable error or do you try to get wickets with attacking lines, lengths, bouncers and yorkers. Hmmm...

Feel for Hameed.

His redemption arc felt as though it was due to finish with a maiden test ton.

Hoping missing a straight half-volley first up is just the final hurdle for our hero to get over.

guy had been out fielding for almost 5 sessions and was batting out of position plus i am sure he was nervous af

will be fine next innings

if they have decided to drop sibley already, wouldn't be the worst idea to let him open next innings

Yeah, he's a career opener and think Sibs is playing for his (immediate) test future second dig.

He's not just failing to make a significant score, he's looking like he doesn't have one in him just now.

If he fails again I reckon we might see a recall for Malan or Vince as I don't think it'd be fair to move Pope to #3 and Bairstow there is a Bumrah/Siraj castling waiting to happen.

Feeling bad for him ever since I have seen him on the field:laugh:, he is looking so out of place, almost like some amateur who has never played sports. Hope he flourishes with the bat in the series.

Need to stick with Sibley and Burns unless someone in the CC forces their hand IMO. Test opening is too difficult to expect anyone to be good at it straight away. Thinking there’s anyone better out there averaging 30 in the CC is just refusing to face reality.

Yeah sibley's 30(140)'s are still more useful then anyone in the cc opening, aside from hameed. Could see hameed opening and sibley at 3 playing a denly esque role working out, may be worth a try.

I dont like Kohli's reluctance to have a third man even when the ball isnt even carrying well to the slips. There's loads of runs on offer in that region.

Tighten up and bore the opposition out.

Politely disagree. I think that your number 3 needs to have the ability to play a more attacking game, which Sibley clearly doesn't. Even Denly had more scoring options than Sibley. I'm not against having an opener at number 3, and we've successfully done it in the past from time to time, but not Sibbers. If Hameed's rabbit in headlights impersonation was indeed down to extreme nervousness, then we're wasting our time. Obviously not fair to write him off after one innings though.
