I see England at least dealt with Jadeja appropriately and simply hit him back over his head rather than play for non-existent turn.

He didn’t take a wicket. Wasn’t aware he was there to bowl some Travis Head holding crap. He’s the front line spinner. If India loses (they shouldn’t) his lack of performance with the ball will be a significant contributor as to why.

A nice "oh no" here at 11:09 from Root. Can't find the thread but someone should put this there.

What an innings that was though, easily one of his very best. The cover drives were so ****ing good.

Whatever it takes!!!
Jadeja was out due to a dislocation of his left hand thumb which is obviously key for a left arm spinner. He is nowhere near his best yet and as we saw with Bumrah, it seems to take a long time to get back that last 10-20% which makes the best so good. He is looking better now than he did in the WTC and as long as he keeps getting better with the ball, I won't be too worried.

Ashwin should play the next test though, especially if the forecast is better than it was here.

if thakur has a niggle can we fly in bhuvi and chahar and keep them on standy pls

we need a swing bowler to play all 5 tests

ishant should replace shami and siraj needs time and guidance to sort his length out and get it fuller

I still think Shami has value, it's just been one poor test. Give him time to make the adjustments.

Jaddu's batting was so clutch as well. A more reliable batter than Ashwin at this point, and a much much better fielder. He's not just being picked to take wickets, he adds so much other value to the team as well.

I miss Bhuvi.

Lol Bhuvi has really gotten better by not playing hasn't he?

We really sure he'd perform any better than the guys picked who have been playing pretty well?

I mean he was motm in his last test.

Do I think he's at that level right now? No.

But he should've been part of the squad and Test set up in the first place. I'm quite confident he'd be a no brain starter in England if he was.

this chase has not followed the trend of those losses tho. We haven't lost as many early wickets. In those games we were 3/39, 3/22 and 3/46. Here we've already got 50 on the board for the loss of just KL Rahul.

Having said that, we could easily lose 3 for not many early today, and then we'll be in serious trouble.

India have to be clear favourites to knock the required runs off today, just a case of whether there’s going to be enough play between the rain in order to do so.

Same problems arising for England so far in this Test, a complete reliance on Root to guide us to anything approaching a decent total and the fielding, especially in the slips, is well below where it should be.

What’s happened with englands slips fielding? They used to be relatively reliable. I suppose Stokes not being there hurts a bit but they used to have a reasonable cordon

I don’t think a relatively continuous rotation of men in there has helped, Root remains a constant now and despite shelling a fairly straightforward one in this Test is one of the more reliable grabbers in there.

Yes Stokes when he plays is normally in there, but I don’t think his overall catching rate in there is anywhere near as good as it should be. He’s a freak at times and takes some unbelievable catches but I think I’m right in saying he drops more than you’d expect in there for a man of his standards.

Sibley and Burns have both had spells in there, but neither really nailing a spot down. Don’t think it’s down to a lack of hard work in there in terms of catches taken in training, but maybe we just don’t really have any natural and reliable slippers at the moment. It certainly needs to change because it’s getting us behind in Test matches.
