The absolutely key player for England this series is Rory Burns. If he doesn't score at least reasonably heavy at the top they're ****ed. The rest of that batting side is middling FC standard at best, Root excepted.

See, this is where I think we miss to give some credit to the bowler. When you get every ball to swing bananas away from the right hander and then you bowl one (admittedly new spell first ball and all that) that swings much lesser when the batsman expects it to swing the same. I am still crediting the bowler for that. He also bowled a few to Sam Curran that left him, so apparently he can get it to go straight, not just swing away.

It turns out that the England batting lineup is exactly as bad as it looks on paper. Stokes sure chose a very good time to pitch out. Not to mention that they're playing like a bunch of batsmen who've mostly been facing the white ball for ages. Some of those shots were just eugghhh.

There's gonna need to be a pretty decent Indian collapse to get them back in the game.

It's a figure of speech idiot. No one else here has had a problem until you came along snivelling.

The fact is Stokes is a better bat than all except Root and would be really useful against a such tough opposition, just as he would be when he's absent for any other reason. Same goes for any other of a team's best players.

England's batting was dismal but also let's give some credit to India's bowlers. You don't often see four pace bowlers all hooping it both ways, with good control. It didn't look as though Broad or Robinson were going to get any swing at all, and Anderson was inexplicably taken off after looking the only England bowler with any threat.
