That was coming for a while, can't understand why England are sitting back so defensively. Very stupid
I honestly think it was their game plan from the start with this formation. The early goal was a bonus. They would've taken being even at this stage and now we'll see the likes of Grealish or Sancho given a run.

This game going the same way as the Croatia semi in 2018, get an early goal and sit back lose the game in the end

Now that Italy have scored I’m hearing a lot about how badly England had been playing before it, but they weren’t mentioning it at all at the time.

The game deserved a goal there to spice things up.

Destiny points to a Sterling winner to decide the game.

I can't shake the horrible feeling that England will get a set piece goal in the last few minutes.

Twitter thinks England are playing great but I dunno if an 88 minute shut-out is the way to go about this. They’re not creating at all since the goal.
Funnily enough, this strategy of trying to close out a game with 1 goal up and 80+ min to go is exactly what Sunderland did in about 5 finals/play off games in league one and they got owned bad every time.

Not badly, just doesn't make sense tactically. When you sit so far back its hard to get any momentum forward.

Italy have killed it really. Apart from the goal England have done nothing. Barely even had the ball.
My galaxy brain take is that Rice was actually poor. Some eye catching drives forward but he wasn’t consistently showing for the ball the way Jorginho and Verratti do.

Consensus view seems to be ‘our midfielders are playing great! How come we never have the ball though?’

Definitely rooting for DeepWoke in this game as we get closer. So many likeable, quality players and England winning a tournament for the first time in 50+ years is a much more compelling story as opposed to the alternative. I just can't warm to Italy even though they've played some fantastic football.
What is deepwoke about supporting England here? Genuine question.
