Donnarumma imo.
Naaaah. More than once he dallied too long on the ball versus Espana and was nearly dispossessed. Kicked a few into touch too.

Like a taller Jordan Pickford IMHO and Pickford's conceded 1 to Donnarumma's 3.

Not too many shouts for Pickford as POTT.

‘Getting nearly dispossessed’ is just a fancy way of saying ‘not getting dispossessed.’

I remember him making a lot of *really* good saves and, unlike Pickford, none of the goals he conceded were ones he could have saved. And he won a shoot-out.

While his heroics in the shootout will help him, the fact Jorginho scored the winning penalty and it wasn’t him making a save that actually sent the Azzurri through kinda harms the optics, voting wise, I'd have thought.

That’s probably true yeah. I don’t think he’ll win it but I do think he’s been Italy’s best player overall.

The only player close to Sterling is Schick imo. He scraped 5 goals out of nothing in a properly crappy attack, including the clear goal of the tournament. The only case against him is that going out in the quarters is an automatic disqualifier.

Kalvin Phillips but water carriers don't get the credit they deserve. I doubted he was good enough to be in the side, boy has he proved me wrong.

Big fan of Phillips and he’s had a good tournament but he can’t be POTT because he plays the same position as Pedri and there’s just no comparison.

I fully expect him to get injured in the first 60 minutes after missing a sitter ,,,but surely not just me who thinks if the final was cancelled tomorrow, that Chiesa would be just as a worthy winner as Sterling?

Shaw has a genuine case, right? 3 assists, opens the scoring in the final, part of the tightest defence. Only bad game was vs Scotland.

Yeah seems about right, still think Kadper may have been the better keeper overall, but he probably had the biggest influence on the tournament, at least it isn't Jorginho.

Sterling and Kane were really poor in the final when we needed an outlet with that team.

UEFA Team of the tournament:

Donnarumma

Walker Bonucci Maguire Spinazzola

Jorginho Hojbjerg Pedri

Chiesa Lukaku Sterling

Solid enough but I've no idea how Lukaku got in ahead of Schick.

Philipps unlucky to miss out to Hojbjerg I reckon. And Chiellini should probably be in there ahead of Maguire. But otherwise looks fair to me.

I think I'd rather Chiellini & Shaw over Maguire and Spinazzola but I guess that's not a major quibble.

I feel like Busquets deserved a spot too but it's hard to argue with the midfield 3 they've picked, they probably nailed it.

Lukaku sticks out as the weakest pick but I guess it was a less competitive position. Agree Schick would have been better and if they weren't going to go there they could have perhaps cheated a little and gone with Insigne since he played false 9 for (by far) Italy's best spell in the final.

Not sure about the keeper for player or team of the tournament. Presumably based on his performance against Spain and in the two penalty shoot outs. He wasn't that busy in some matches, including the Final.
